BCDA and Widus Group sign P12-B lease agreement for luxury mountain resort

The Widus Group (Widus) and the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) have signed a lease agreement worth P12 billion in committed investments for the development of a sprawling 450 hectares of land to be turned into a luxury mountain resort in New Clark City (NCC).

Among the establishments to be built in the planned resort to be called Hann Lux are global hospitality brands such as the Banyan Tree Hotel, Angsana Hotel, Westin and Luxury Collection by Marriott.

The luxury mountain resort will be located in the southern-most portion of New Clark City. Phase 1 of the resort will include the development of Angsana Hotel and the Banyan Tree Hotel, a Jack Nicklaus-designed 18-hole championship golf course, and a clubhouse. Widus committed a total of P5 billion and pegged to be completed within five years.

Phase 2 of the development, on the other hand, will include Westin and Luxury Collection by Marriott, two 18-hole championship golf courses, outdoor recreation facilities, premium villas and residences, a mixed-use commercial center, and a 10-hectare public park for a total of P7 billion.

“Clark is fast becoming one of the top destinations in Northern Luzon for both tourists and investors… I have seen how the Duterte administration is serious about bringing big-ticket infrastructures into Clark. And when Vince told me his vision of how to develop the NCC, I was thinking if there would be any opportunity for another business opportunities,” says Dae Sik Han, president and CEO of Hann Development Corporation.

“And I realized that NCC is surrounded by very, very interesting trees and nature. That’s how I came up with the idea of combining the improved accessibility — locally and internationally — and the nice terrain of nature into a luxury mountain resort,“ he adds.

“We’re fortunate to partner with the Widus Group for this new attraction, as they share with us the vision for NCC to be green, resilient and sustainable,” says BCDA president Vince Dizon.

“Part of the agreement is the use of nature and Filipino-inspired architecture for the luxury mountain resort to showcase local culture and tradition which the Hann Group is known for,” he adds.

Located 100 kilometers north of Metro Manila, NCC is a 9,450-hectare development intended to decongest the capital. It will feature smart technologies and mixed-use developments including a world-class government center, sports hub for national athletes, and educational centers.

New Clark City’s Phase 1A, which houses the new Athletics Stadium and Aquatics Center to be used for this year’s 30th South East Asian Games, is 99 percent complete.
