After the prolonged period when everyone had to stay at home as a health precaution, Ayala Malls nationwide gradually welcomed back the community to a safe shopping experience, with stringent sanitation measures and safety precautions in place for its shops, merchants, and customers.
As the country transitions to the new normal, Ayala Malls reopened its malls in areas under GCQ on May 16, namely MarQuee Mall, Ayala Malls Capitol Central, Shops at Atria, and Ayala Malls Abreeza, along with Ayala Malls Centrio, which has been operational since May 8.
On May 18, Ayala Malls opened its malls in areas under MECQ, with Glorietta, Greenbelt, Shops at Ayala North Exchange, Ayala Malls Circuit, Metropoint Mall, TriNoma, Ayala Malls Vertis North, U.P. Town Center, Fairview Terraces, Ayala Malls Cloverleaf, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, Ayala Malls Feliz, Ayala Malls The 30th, Ayala Malls Marikina, Market! Market!, Bonifacio High Street, Alabang Town Center, Ayala Malls Legazpi, Harbor Point, Ayala Malls Solenad, and Pavilion Mall. To comply with LGU directives, some Ayala Malls, such as Ayala Center Cebu, Ayala Malls Central Bloc, Ayala Malls Serin, The District Dasmarinas, and The District Imus remain temporarily closed except for essential stores and services.
Ayala Malls’ gradual reopening went smoothly and without hitches, with customers following safety guidelines and physical distancing measures.
To ensure that Ayala Malls remain a safe place for merchants and customers, protocols have been rigorously put in place mall-wide and in each individual shop. Among the safety standards that are followed as the malls open include:
Standard mall entry measures including mandatory temperature checks at the entrance, and compulsory wearing of face masks within the mall
In the next few weeks, thermal imaging scanners that detect mallgoers’ body temperature are set to be installed at high-traffic entrances in Glorietta, Greenbelt, Market! Market!, Alabang Town Center, Ayala Center Cebu, Ayala Malls Central Bloc, Ayala Malls Abreeza, Ayala Malls Centrio, TriNoma, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, U.P. Town Center, Ayala Malls Feliz, and Fairview Terraces
Following IATF guidelines, persons below 21 years old and those 60 years old and above may not enter Ayala Malls, except when indispensable under circumstances for obtaining essential goods and services, or for work in establishments located within the mall
- Use of elevators is limited to individuals with reduced mobility, and will operate to consider exceptions abovementioned. Ayala Malls encourages the youth and our elderly to stay at home and not venture out unless extremely necessary to better protect their health and safety.
- Regular cleaning and disinfection of all common areas, and the installation of UV sterilizers in high traffic escalators.
- All mall establishments are strictly required to follow cleaning and disinfection procedures. Cashier counters are kept clean and regularly disinfected, and cashless payments are encouraged among customers.
- Physical distancing measures are put in place at common areas, including one-meter-distance for queues at ATMs, elevators, and restrooms — with markers in place to serve as reminders.
- A one-way traffic flow is implemented in narrow hallways, and security personnel have handheld reminders to aid customers. Ayala Malls makes it easy for customers to follow safety protocols with reminders and physical markers visible all over the malls.
Even with the reopening of its malls, Ayala Malls continues to offer its DELIVEReasY and DriveBuy services for customers who prefer to shop from home, or have their purchases ready for convenient curbside pickup at designated areas.
