Native goes green in Glorietta

The famous shoe brand has since been on a mission to “enliten” the lives of people around the globe with its impressive range of mondo-lite, crazy comfortable, easy-to-wear, and completely Beast FreeTM footwear. From its trademark EVA material to its ever-growing assortment of fresh Future Classics, Native is always on its toes in finding ways to “Keep It Lite” —a philosophy that stems from the soul and onto the soles of many.

And as the brand continues to keep things lite, whether in outlook or in every pair, there is another driving force at the heart of Native Shoes since day one — that is its Beast Free advocacy. Being Beast Free means that not a single hair nor hide from any animal, anywhere, has been used in the creation of their products. A testament to their commitment is garnering the PETA Approved Vegan certification.

In keeping with being Beast Free and proud, Native Philippines unveiled its newly-renovated store in Glorietta last November 2018 — the first in the country to follow suit with the principal’s greener store concept for the Native bricks-and-mortar. Now the store is refreshed with a white and wood motif, featuring classic plywood pegboards and modular displays to showcase Native’s full line of men’s, women’s, and children’s shoes. There’s also an interactive screen playing the brand’s videos on-loop, for playing a quick memory game, or for browsing the products! But in the clean-and-crispness of it all, one of the first things to strike your sights would most probably be the lush green wall of live moss, bearing the brand philosophy in neon blue, standing just behind the store counter.

This living and breathing giant wall of moss does more than lend a cool and organic touch to the store’s overall atmosphere though. First off, it’s 100 percent organic, hypoallergenic, and resistant to dust. The moss’ natural properties let it dampen sound waves and tone down unwanted high-frequency sounds, control the humidity, and deodorize and purify the air in the store. Not to mention, it’s completely fire retardant and resistant to discoloration. Talk about low maintenance with high benefits!

Inside the store, you’ll also find colorful mats for sitting. These are actually made of ground-up, pre-loved Native Shoes—the by-product of The Remix Project. This is another move towards creating and implementing more sustainable practices as a brand, with a vision to have each and every pair from Native become 100% life cycle managed by 2023. The Remix Project seeks to breathe new life to preloved Natives in projects across its communities, much like the seating mats inside the store. Their goal is to collect enough pairs to recycle them into mats to fill a playground by the end of 2019, and as an incentive to its conscious consumers, Native Shoes Glorietta will be giving its store-goers 10 percent OFF a brand new pair whenever they donate their old pairs for this cause.

With these new features and mindful details, it’s no doubt that Native’s new store is a direct application of the Beast Free mantra, which the brand is more than happy to pass along to whoever sets foot inside its store.
