PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards opens 2026 program with new consumer-led categories

The PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards has officially launched its 14th edition, introducing new categories that reflect shifting market priorities and growing consumer influence in the real estate sector.

Developers, industry leaders, and experts gathered at Asia Connect Manila, held at Blackbird at the Nielson Tower, to mark the start of the 2026 awards cycle, widely regarded as one of the country’s most prestigious property recognition programs.

The awards gala will take place on August 20, 2026 in Manila, ahead of the regional Grand Final in Bangkok this December, where Philippine winners will compete against top developers across Asia-Pacific markets.

Discussions during the launch highlighted the country’s continued economic momentum, with the Philippines expected to remain among Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing economies. Infrastructure expansion, ecozone development, housing initiatives, and investor-friendly policies are helping sustain demand for residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects.

Cura (Vice-Chairman, The RGV Group of Companies)

PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards and Events general manager Jules Kay said the industry is entering a new phase of expansion driven by sustainability and innovation.

“Philippine real estate is entering a new era characterised by scale, sustainability, and strong economic momentum,” Kay said, noting that developers are delivering “smarter, greener, and more market-responsive projects.”

The 2026 program introduces several new categories, including Best Condo Developer, Best First Home Development, Best Affordable Housing Development (Luzon), Best Wellness Hospitality Development, Best Marina Development, and Best Landmark Development—signalling diversification across asset classes.

A key highlight this year is the introduction of the People’s Choice Awards in the Philippines. Already implemented in other Southeast Asian markets, the new component allows consumers themselves to vote for the country’s top developers, underscoring the growing role of end-users in shaping industry recognition.

Cyndy Tan Jarabata, chairperson of the independent judging panel, said developers are increasingly focusing on broader community-building rather than individual projects.

Developers are “shift[ing] from building homes to building communities, responding more thoughtfully to property seekers’ needs nationwide,” she said, citing expansion into emerging locations beyond major metropolitan centers.

The strength of the sector was evident in last year’s awards, where companies from across the country earned top honors. Aboitiz Economic Estates, for example, was named Best Industrial Developer for the fifth consecutive year, reflecting the increasing importance of integrated industrial communities in driving employment and regional development.

Entries for the 2026 awards close on June 19, followed by site inspections in July and public voting for the People’s Choice Awards later that month. Winners will be selected by an independent panel of industry leaders, with oversight from global advisory network HLB to ensure transparency and fairness.

As developers move toward integrated estates and long-term urban planning, organisers said the awards will continue to spotlight developments that address housing demand, connectivity, sustainability, and inclusive growth across the country.
