DHSUD advances transparency and service with new reforms

Aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ governance framework, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has enacted significant reforms to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the housing sector.

Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar has spearheaded these changes through Department Circular 2024-005, effective immediately upon publication since its signing on February 14, 2024. This directive aims to simplify procedures for obtaining permits, licenses, and certificates, and to align DHSUD’s processes with other government bodies to eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy.

The reforms, encapsulated in three comprehensive books, set out standardized rules and procedures for development permits and licenses, established guidelines for appeals within DHSUD, and provided a manual for executing departmental and higher authority orders.

This initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to principled governance and societal transformation, targeting policy reforms and economic rejuvenation.
