Pure excellence in customer service:  A look at EastWest’s multiple awards in 2023

Solidifying its reputation as a universal bank that prizes excellent delivery of banking and financial services above all, Gotianun-led EastWest ends 2023 having amassed numerous industry awards, citations, and recognitions.

Chief among EastWest’s global honors this year is that it has remained in the Asian Banker 500 Largest and Strongest Banks in the Asia Pacific Region and improved its ranking. This is a testament to EastWest’s financial strength and sound management practice, cementing its status as a key player in the Philippine banking industry.

The Asian Banker also recognized the EastWest JCB Credit Card as the Best Credit Card for 2023, with its many inclusions such as airport lounge access, travel insurance, and emergency assistance, to name a few.

Another important victory is Wells Fargo’s Operational Excellence Award, another repeat win from previous years. This signifies EastWest’s strong capability to process cross-border payments most efficiently.

The Bank also made waves and won a Golden Arrow for good corporate governance in the Golden Arrow Awards – another notable recognition that demonstrates EastWest adherence to good governance and transparency.

Digital banking had been another major focus for EastWest in 2023. Digital banking services  Komo was awarded in the International Finance Magazine Awards as the Most Innovative Smart Banking Services Providers – Digital Bank, validating its efforts in providing a unique set of services and unparalleled customer experience for a great number of customers who now prefer to conduct their bank transactions and activities digitally.

Signifying its strength in wealth management and Priority banking services, EastWest Priority was also recognized by two prestigious award-giving bodies. International Finance Magazine honored EastWest Priority with the Best Priority Banking Experience award early this year,  followed by Global Finance Magazine naming it Best Private Bank for 2024.

EastWest also managed to take home another trophy before 2023 comes to a close. Another recognition from the International Finance Awards saw the bank become the Best Forex Broker for its most competitive foreign exchange rates and remarkable growth in volume (13 percent in 2022), transaction count (24 percent), and customer count (18 percent). This essentially means that EastWest’s foreign currency exchange services are the most trusted by customers in the Philippines to get the best value for their money.

Lastly, beyond excellent banking service, EastWest also made waves in good corporate social responsibility. Digital Banker awarded it the Best CSR Initiative for the Bank’s Magenta Race 2022, a virtual run, walk, and cycling race held for the benefit of the Philippine Breast Cancer Foundation Inc.

“Our mission at EastWest really is to provide our customers with the best possible service for which they rely on us,” said EastWest CEO Jerry G. Ngo. “All of these awards and recognitions are welcome validation for all the hard work we do in giving Filipinos what they need, and further encouragement for us to continue on our path.”

EastWest ends 2023 performing at pre-pandemic levels, signifying increasing momentum and, in turn, a positive outlook for the coming year.
