As part of the retail industry for 36 years now, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of digital technology in reshaping the retail landscape in the Philippines.
My role at Wilcon Depot and being part of the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) have not only taught me about the challenges of the construction and home improvement sector but also exposed me to broader changes happening in the retail industry. With the digital transformation sweeping across industries, including retail, companies must adapt and embrace these changes.
When I received the invitation to speak at the Meralco Enterprise and Retail Asia Forum, I saw it as an opportunity to share my insights and experiences on how digital transformation has reshaped the retail landscape in the Philippines.

The Meralco Enterprise Commercial & Conglomerate-Key Industry Expert Engagement took place on October 4, 2023, at the Meralco Lopez Building in Pasig City while the 2023 Retail Asia Forum Manila took place on October 5 at the Shangri-La Fort in Taguig.
These engagements aimed to explore the impact of digital transformation on the retail industry and the strategies that companies can adopt to stay ahead in this ever-evolving landscape. They provide an exceptional opportunity for industry experts, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers to understand the retail landscape and explore essential issues and trends defining Asia’s retail industry’s future.
One of the highlights of my keynote address at the forum was sharing insights on how Wilcon Depot’s retail experience connected with Meralco Enterprise’s energy efficiency goals. We explored the challenges we encountered, the strategies we employed, and the outcomes we achieved together. Just like Martin Luther King Jr. said, “The key to progressing is taking that initial step.”
