Joy~Nostalg: Of memories and modern day amenities

When friends agree to meet, especially if one is from the north and the other from the south of Manila, a compromise is usually agreed upon.

Ortigas Central Business District meets the criteria. It is Metro Manila’s second most important business district within the joint boundaries of Pasig, Mandaluyong, Quezon City with nearby San Juan. Its strategic location being in the middle of Manila makes it an ideal location for reunions, events, and staycations. Ortigas Center is also dubbed as the Mall Capital of Metro Manila with Shangri-la, Podium, Megamall, and Robinsons Galleria all within the district. It is also accessible via MRT stations and EDSA Carousel.

Middle of Manila, between the malls

Located between Megamall and Robinsons Galleria, across the Asian Development Bank is Joy~Nostalg Hotel and Suites Manila. It is a five-star serviced residence managed by Accor, one of the world’s leading hospitality groups. The suites boast of spacious living and dining areas. Most important are the fully-equipped kitchen and laundry accessories which attract ‘staycationers’ and those planning extended stays.

For those on business and work, all rooms have high internet connections, ensuring seamless video conference and movie streaming. Joy~Nostalg has 229 well-appointed contemporary suites ranging from studio executive to one-bedroom, two-bedroom or three-bedroom executive. Each room has plush mattresses,  fine linens, and a soaking tub for absolute relaxation. For an ultimate experience, you can watch television while soaking in a bathtub in selected rooms. For your exercise regime, the hotel offers a well-equipped gym. For the walking enthusiast, Ortigas Center, being pedestrian-friendly, is one of the most walkable places in Metro Manila.

The roof

My first time in Joy~Nostalg was at The Roof. Located on the 43rd floor, it has a picturesque view of the Ortigas Center skyline. It is perfect for alfresco dining where you can enjoy grilled food and cold drinks. Reserve your seats and drop by early to catch the  best sunset view this side of the metro. Watch out for many promos. Access is via the Nostalgia Lounge reception at the 6th floor.

Food galore

The Nostalgia Dining Lounge

Foodies will not be disappointed with the gourmet buffets at the Nostalgia Dining Lounge. Beautifully designed with a nostalgic vibe, the lounge offers breakfast buffet (Monday to Friday from 6 am to 10:30 am; Saturday from 6 am to 11 am) and buffet lunch (Monday to Friday from 12 nn to 2:45 pm). Special cuisines are offered on special days such as Pay Day, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Independence Day and other holidays. With its superb service and best panoramic view, Joy~Nostalg is hard to resist. When my wife and I inquired specifically about their amenities, we were elated to know they have a heated swimming pool and they allow fur babies. Those were enough to seal the deal for a memorable stay full of memories.
