Work it! A training hub for powerlifters and weightlifters unveiled in Mandaluyong

The lack of internationally competitive training spaces has become a pressing concern for athletes and sports enthusiasts alike. While the Philippines boasts a rich history of sporting achievements, the absence of state-of-the-art facilities meeting international standards has hindered the development and progress of our athletes.

Recognizing this pressing need, TheRack.Co, a Philippines-based strength equipment hub, recently unveiled its new Buhat Buhat Basement, a by-appointment strength training studio catering to Powerlifting and Weightlifting athletes.

“Powerlifting is a fast-rising global sport that Filipinos can and are excelling at internationally because like Weightlifting, the Pinoy physique competes at a more level-playing field as competitors are divided into weight classes,” TheRack.Co product curator Ken Tan said during the launch of the sports facility on May 19 in Mandaluyong City.

The studio houses the most extensive collection of internationally recognized and competition-ready equipment in the country, primarily sourced from the esteemed Swedish manufacturer Eleiko, the highly acclaimed US innovator Kabuki Strength, and the renowned conditioning machine brand Concept2.

“At TheRack.Co’s Buhat Buhat Basement, the aim is to make competitive-standard equipment like Eleiko be made more accessible to Filipino strength athletes, so that more strong Pinoys like Joyce Reboton in Powerlifting, and Hidilyn Diaz in Weightlifting, get to represent the Philippines successfully in global competitions,” Tan added.

The strength training hub noted that it is a place for Filipino enthusiasts to indulge in their passion for lifting. It also serves a showroom for home gym aficionados and facility owners, and a specialty “candy store” for equipment and apparel.

Initially starting as a blog centered around strength training lifestyle and culture, TheRack.Co shifted its focus on retailing premium home gym equipment in 2016.

Aside from Eleiko, TheRack.Co carries other brands covering a wide range of strength training equipment, apparel, and accessories namely Kabuki Strength, Concept2, Bear KompleX, AbMat, IronMind, Fat Gripz.

The opening of the new space concluded with a special coaching session with acclaimed Filipina powerlifter Joyce Reboton, and her Coach, Willord Capulong. Reboton recently snagged four gold medals and broke the Asian record in the 76kg Open Category at the Asian Equipped Powerlifting Championships.

TheRack.Co’s Buhat Buhat Basement is open from Mondays to Fridays. It is located at Level A, Space 1 FMF Business Center, 126 Pioneer Street, Mandaluyong City.
