The Grand Midori Ortigas: Zen living continues with the launch of Tower 2

Harmony, tranquility, and uncluttered beauty – these are the promises of Zen. For many years, the philosophy of Zen has been applied to architecture, interior design, and urban lifestyles as a welcome respite to the fast-paced experience of city living.

The Japanese pioneered this design concept, promoting elegance through minimalism and functionality. Renowned Japanese architectural firm, Tange Associates, is known for creating comfortable and pleasurable spaces for people to stay in. It remains true to its heritage and the Zen principles of simplicity, depth, and functionality in its latest project in the Philippines, Federal Land’s The Grand Midori Ortigas.

“The Japanese have a distinctive style of form, shape, and tradition, carried down through the ages,” said Chairman Paul Tange, son of the late 1987 Pritzker awardee, Kenzo Tange, the firm’s founder who is also considered worldwide as an architectural guru.

Reflecting the serenity of Zen living in the city is The Grand Midori Ortigas. Located in the heart of Ortigas Center, it offers Zen-inspired spaces that marry simple aesthetics with modern life.  Soon, the concept of Zen living experience will be made available to more Filipinos with the launch of the second tower of The Grand Midori Ortigas.

Japanese Architecture

Tange Associates has been best known for combining traditional Japanese artistry with modern perspective as seen on several iconic landmarks across Japan including Yoyogi gymnasium, St. Mary Cathedral, Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, and Tokyo Aquatics Center. At The Grand Midori Ortigas, its experiential design approach has translated well to creating Zen-inspired amenity experience that is both elegant and purposeful.

Tange Associates creates a graceful façade that combines the Japanese tatami with the Filipino “banig” to craft a flowing weave pattern that provides a comforting feel of Filipino home, while serving as a sunshade. The interior spaces and amenity landscapes are inspired by the Japanese concepts of ‘wabi-sabi’ and ‘miyabi’ which focuses on discovering beauty in imperfection and expressions of elegance.

The Grand Midori Ortigas delights residents with wellness amenities that provide a much-needed break from the chaos of city living. Indoor amenities include a lounge area and rooms for yoga and other fitness activities, play and game spaces, dedicated rooms for learning and conferences, and a multi-purpose room for parties and other gatherings. Outside, there is green open spaces for lounging as well as a lap pool, jacuzzi, kiddie pool, pool lounge and children’s play area.

“When we work on design, we consider how to incorporate the individual style and personality into the architecture. Of course, we prioritize the comfort of the people who will use the space in all our architecture, whether residential or commercial,” said Tange.

Ideal location

The Grand Midori Ortigas is a Zen haven amid the dynamic Ortigas central business district, with access to various business centers, lifestyle hubs, and leisure destinations. The area is easily accessible via major thoroughfares: Ortigas Avenue from the north, EDSA from the west, C-5 Road from the east, and Shaw Boulevard from the south.

New infrastructure developments in the area provide residents with convenient mobility options. Recently completed was the 1.48km BGC-Ortigas Bridge Link which cuts travel time between BGC and Ortigas to 12 minutes from one hour. Other infrastructure projects set to benefit Ortigas Center, such as the Metro Manila Subway System, MRT 4, Skyway, and Pasig River Expressway, are now underway.

Smart Investment

Various industry experts reported that the Philippine property market continues its upward trajectory, as seen by the strong sales within the capital’s central business districts. Preselling condominium take-up in 2022 reached 20,000 units, up from 13,300 units sold in 2021. Improvements in the property sector are seen as a spillover impact of the economic recovery from the pandemic. This is also supported by favorable consumer and business sentiment and a steady inflow of OFW remittances.

The Grand Midori Ortigas has proven to be a popular investment since its launch in 2019. Its first tower enjoyed sustained demand and sales take-up from buyers who see high investment potential in quality developments with green spaces and wellness amenities located in business districts.

Federal Land, has also recently held a topping-off ceremony in celebration of the structural completion of Tower One, a testimony of the company’s commitment to delivering its projects on time.

Tower One’s completion, along with the project’s popularity in the market, has led the way to the introduction of new inventory with the launch of Tower Two in Q1 2023. The Grand Midori Ortigas intends to present residents with inspired living spaces in a central location primed for growth.
