Celebrating Women in property

As Women’s Month comes to a close, Property Report pays tribute to the women in property.

There are many of them — from real estate brokers, business development officers to C-level executives. There are also women interior designers, architects and engineers who are all making the Philippine property industry more vibrant than ever.

Property Report salutes you all.

For this issue, we raise a toast to some of these women who have been leading property companies or related industries.

We salute you and we celebrate your role as women leaders.

Every year, the Philippines joins the rest of the world in observing International Women’s Month, which is every March of every year.

It starts with International Women’s Day which is celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women’s rights movement.

According to internationalwomensday.com, the first National Woman’s Day (NWD) was observed across the United States on February 28. Women continued to celebrate NWD on the last Sunday of February until 1913.

“In 1975, International Women’s Day was marked for the first time by the United Nations. Then in December 1977, the General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming a United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace to be observed on any day of the year by Member States, in accordance with their historical and national traditions,” it said.

The rest, as they say, is history.

There are now more women in the boardroom, greater equality in legislative rights, and an increased critical mass of women’s visibility as impressive role models in every aspect of life, according to internationalwomensday.com.

And so today, we celebrate Women’s Month to remind ourselves how much we’ve achieved in breaking the glass ceiling and what more we can do to light the path for others to follow.

Happy International Women’s Day to all!
