Architect Nestor S. Mangio’s Journey

50th Anniversary As A Professional Architect

Architect Nestor Mangio took up B.S. Architecture at the University of Santo Tomas.  He graduated in April 1970 and eventually passed the Board Licensure Exam in 1972. 

He designed the Paskuhan Village in Pampanga that won an Excellence Award from the United Architects of the Philippines.  He also designed the Pampanga Convention Center and various commercial, industrial, religious, institutional and residential buildings here and even abroad. 

He has since been an active member of the United Architects of the Philippines where he held important positions including the National President for two consecutive terms from 1994-1996.  He was also a past President of the University of Santo Tomas College of Architecture Alumni Association.

He held various government positions in the past including Director of the Bases Conversion development Authority (BCDA), Director of Fort Bonifacio Development Corp., Director of Clark Development Corp. and Chairman of the Clark International Airport Corp.  He is also affiliated with various international organizations such as the American Institute of Architects, the Urban Land Institute, International Union of Architects and Architects of Asia, among others.

Believing that “Life is a continuous learning process,” he enrolled at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design specializing in Advance Management and Development Program in real estate. He was voted model student of the class.

His trophy project, The Lakeshore Estate in Mexico, Pampanga, a pioneer in lake resort residential community with a 12-hectare man-made lake received numerous local and international awards, including Best Design Community by the HLURB.

His Architectural firm, N. S. Mangio Architects & Associates expanded its services by obtaining license on Environmental Planning (Urban Planning), Interior Design, Construction and Real Estate Services.  The firm also was able to tap corporate clients like Century Properties, Federal Land, San Miguel Properties, Dolmar, Marubeni, SOC Land, Eton Properties Philippines Inc., etc.  N. S. Mangio Architects & Associates won the International Competition to design the Eton City in Sta. Rosa Laguna.

In 2006, he was named Outstanding Professional of the Year in the field of Architecture by the Professional Regulation Commission. He was also awarded by the Business and Construction Interchange Asia as one of the Top 10 Market Leaders in Asia in the field of Architecture.  He was bestowed the title “Fellow” by the United Architects of the Philippines, the Architects of Asia (ArcAsia) and APEC, ASEAN Architects.  In 2020, he was conferred UAP Likha Gold Medal Award, the highest honor given to a Filipino Architect.

On July 29, 2022 Arch. Mangio will be bestowed the Outstanding Professional of the Year Award in the field of Real Estate Service from the Professional Regulation Commission.
