“Trash to Cashback”: Trade-in your recyclables for essential goods

Araneta City wants your recyclables!

For the whole month of October, everyone is encouraged to bring recyclable materials such as PET bottles, old newspapers, and aluminum beverage cans, and exchange them for rewards.

To advocate for a more sustainable future for everyone, the City of Firsts partners with Basic Environmental System and Technologies (BEST), Inc. and the Environmental Protection and Waste Management Department of Quezon City to launch the We Want Your Recyclables! Trash to Cashback program.

Marjorie Go, AVP for Marketing of Araneta City, said, “We are excited to bring Quezon City’s Trash to Cashback program to the City of Firsts once again; we know that many QCitizens are eager to see it again in Araneta City.”

Those who wish to participate has to clean their recyclables and properly segregate them according to waste type. These should then be brought to the “We Want Your Recyclables” booth at the Araneta City Times Square Avenue (beside the Araneta City Bus Station). For a smooth and seamless transaction, create a bXTRA account beforehand by clicking here: https://bit.ly/3eAL7Cl

You’ll earn points that can be exchanged for basic commodities such as rice, eggs, bread, fruits, vegetables, and other essentials such as toiletries. Recyclable items have corresponding environmental points, which earn you cashback that will be transferred to your bXTRA account.

“Waste management is an important component of our strategy to achieve sustainability, and through this effort we are encouraging residents of Quezon City to do their part in addressing waste,” Go added. “We are not just giving them a chance to properly dispose of their recyclable waste, it’s also an opportunity to be rewarded with essential items and basic commodities.”
