Seda Vertis North named LEED gold building for exceptional green features

Seda Vertis North recently received a LEED-Gold certification attesting that the five-star, 438-room hotel in Quezon City bearing the homegrown Ayala Land hotel brand was designed and constructed to uphold globally recognized green building design, construction and operation standards and guidelines.

Seda Vertis North is one of two hotels in the Ayala Land group that has LEED certification. The other is Seda Nuvali, which merited a LEED-Silver certification. Both properties are among the handful of hotels in the Philippines that have merited this distinction.

LEED buildings like Seda Vertis North substantially impact the health and wellbeing of its employees and guests.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a widely accepted green building certification system involving third-party verification that a structure was constructed to deliver energy savings, use water efficiently and reduce carbon emissions among other significant environment-friendly metrics.

Developed by the US Green Building Council, LEED awards points based on how green building strategies were achieved. A LEED-Gold certificate, which was awarded to Seda Vertis North, is the second-highest level attainable. The hotel merited a high rating owing to its water-efficient plumbing fixtures and landscaping, energy-efficient lighting and HVAC equipment, use of locally sourced materials and materials with recycled content, its provision of a materials recovery facility for waste recycling among other features. It is also a non-smoking building.

Brett Hickey, Seda group general manager, said “We are very proud that Seda Vertis North has a smaller carbon footprint, requires less electricity and consumes less water than a standard building. Moreover, LEED buildings like ours substantially impact the health and well-being of its employees and guests.”

Since opening its doors in 2017, Seda Vertis North has been a popular venue for the MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions) market. Being the only premier hotel in northern Metro Manila, it also serves business travelers dealing with firms in the Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela manufacturing sites and leisure travelers visiting friends and relatives in Quezon City and beyond.

On weekends, Seda Vertis North, which is part of the Vertis North mixed-use development including Vertis mall, is a popular venue for weddings and other celebrations. It is also a short stroll away from TriNoma mall.

Seda Vertis North’s lunch and dinner buffet at its 250-seat Misto is highly appreciated by corporate, medical, and government executives in the surrounding buildings and institutions as well as Quezon City residents. Its 150-seat Straight Up roof deck bar is the only premier facility of its kind in the area.

It was named a five-star accommodation by the Tourism department owing to its world-class facilities and exceptional guest service.
