How do you want to live your life?

My Papa was a voracious reader of the newspaper. He would never leave the house without one. He would be confined in the hospital, and he would still be reading one. Even when he suffered a stroke that incapacitated him, in those years when he was still stronger, breakfast still involved him with a newspaper and a cup of coffee. He always encouraged us to read the newspaper, and I believe that ingrained my deep respect for the medium.

When I was assigned to lead this section, my first thought was how I could contribute significantly to this industry I deeply respect. My background is in marketing and storytelling – what can I bring that can pay tribute to the great journalists who work tirelessly and relentlessly in this publication, in my little way, through this section?

Then we had our company strategic planning late last year, and listening to the stories of all the great leaders and legends of The Philippine STAR, I found my spark of purpose as our company solidified its own.

My thoughts turned to our readers—to you—and my marketing mind jumpstarted and asked, “What is it that YOU want to read?”

You, our readers, are now braver and more discerning after the pandemic. For you, it is no longer about a house; it is about a home. It’s not just about space; it’s about connection to nature. It’s not just about technology; it’s about smart living.
It’s not just about conservation; it’s about sustainability.
It’s not just about jobs; it’s about hybrid work. So today, you want more than just information; you want a glimpse into a way of life. This is what we, in Property Report, aim to provide for you.

We are starting this with our new section logo—a new dynamic design that incorporates a human element—the most important element in our stories. For what is a property or a home without the people living their life in it?

According to Simon Sinek, author of START WITH WHY, “The goal of business should not be to do business with anyone who simply wants what you have. It should be to focus on the people who believe what you believe.” We hope that through our stories, and our features on different properties, developments, and businesses, you, our readers, can discover more about what you believe—in the way you live life, in how you want to invest, and in what you love about living in our beautiful Philippines.

So, we look forward to connecting and living with all of you through these pages. Read on!
