“This is a very difficult moment for everyone but especially for our construction workers who were not able to go home to their provinces upon the sudden declaration of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). They are away from their families and may not be beneficiaries of the local government’s support since they are not residents there,” says Suntrust Properties president Atty. Harry Paltongan.
“We also have property administration staff who agreed to temporarily live in the project barracks to serve the homeowners. These are challenging times but as long as we cooperate and support one another, we will definitely overcome this.”
Due to the sudden declaration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in March, more than a thousand workers of the company’s contractors were not able to go home and are now stranded in project sites nationwide.
Suntrust has ongoing house and lot projects in Luzon like Suntrust Verona, Suntrust Sentosa, San Francisco Heights and Gran Avila in Laguna, Siena Hills in Batangas City, Washington Place and Cyberville in Cavite, The Arcadia in Pampanga. Suntrust has also provided assistance to the workers of their contractors in their condominium projects in Manila, Quezon City, Baguio and Davao.
Other recipients of the donation drive include workers from its house and lot projects in Bacolod and Tagum City, including beneficiaries from Suntrust Ecotown, its industrial eco-park in Tanza, Cavite.
In addition, admin personnel who are currently staying at project sites — to ensure the safety, security, utility maintenance and other needs of Suntrust homeowners — were also beneficiaries of the rice donations.
