In celebration of three decades in the construction industry as the leading source in luxury home furniture and fixtures, Kuysen proudly unveiled its Design and Experience Center in front of valued guests, VIPs and design professionals last Feb. 21, at the posh Jupiter Bel Air area of Makati.
The five-story Kuysen Design and Experience Center is a wholly-owned and operated multi-function building that has two basements. This new headquarters re-affirms the company’s commitment to the Filipino homeowner and its belief in the Philippine construction industry going forward. Designed by esteemed architect and interior designer Ed Calma as the epitome of a luxury home, the distinctive structure is a vibrant showroom where impeccable design and functionality come together to create the perfect lifestyle.
Architectural gem in Makati
In designing the Kuysen Design and Experience Center, Ar. Calma considers incorporating elements and materials to make the space unique to users. The key, he says, is to have a dominant element to which all other aspects have to be subservient. Doing so will ensure all elements will fall into place and make sense as a whole, thereby creating a beautiful, well-curated space that has the signature Ed Calma touch to each specialized floor.
“The Kuysen showroom is located along a row of boxy buildings in Jupiter Street. This gave me an opportunity to break the line of boxes by splaying the floors of the building into separate forms allowing Kuysen to define each floor to house a particular brand or product. The curvilinear façade creates a segmented surface of glass with different angles that minimizes direct heat gain into the building,” Ar. Calma shares.
Luxury design comes alive
The impressive fixtures and sheer massive space of the showroom are brought to life by using hierarchy for the form, materials, and color to unify the internal and external elements in a design. All floors were furnished with a consistent theme of dark wood that brings the whole building design together. The architectural interior fit out products such as sliding doors and hardware that were intended to increase the spatial experience of the showroom.
On the ground floor themed “Luxe Living,” Kuysen created a space that allows clients to visualize an actual living area with the selection of luxury brands such as Porro, Living Divani, Poggenpohl and Vibia. Up on the second level called “Bespoke,” there is customizable furniture that inspires individuality with brands such as Baxter, Ceccotti, Paola Lenti, Vibia, and Gan representing longevity of distinct aesthetic. At the third level dubbed “Design Curio,” an eccentric space and aesthetic feel welcomes visitors with iconic pieces from Zanotta, Driade, Saba, Desalto, Muuto, Montana, and Pedrali.
On the fourth floor themed as “The Collective,” gorgeous kitchen and bathroom lifestyle displays are present with brands like Kaldewei, Keuco, Victoria Albert, Puntotre, Kessel, Teka, Kuppershbush, Foster, Poggenpohl, Cerim, and Iberro. The fifth level, “Designer Bathroom,” highlights a selection of award-winning design and innovation from industry leaders Handsgrohe, Axor, and Duravit. Topping the experience is the relaxing space and roof deck called the “Atmosphere” which offers a 360-degree view of the metropolis that can be enjoyed while surrounded by playful colors, textures and shapes only Paola Lenti pieces can offer.
Marvel at the unparalleled luxury that is only Kuysen. Come and indulge your senses when you visit Kuysen’s Design and Experience Center at #2 Jupiter St., Brgy. Bel Air in Makati City.
