SM Hotels expands events portfolio with three new SMX trade halls

SMX Convention Center is set to open three new SMX Trade Halls in Luzon in the fourth quarter of 2026, further expanding its footprint in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.

Owned and managed by SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation, the new facilities will rise in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija; Santo Tomas, Batangas; and Santa Rosa, Laguna.

The three developments will add more than 13,000 square meters of leasable exhibition space, increasing capacity for trade shows, corporate functions, and large-scale community events across key provincial growth centers. Located within established commercial hubs, the trade halls are positioned to serve regional demand while supporting the decentralization of major events beyond Metro Manila.

The expansion aligns with SMX’s broader pipeline, which includes the upcoming SMX Convention Center Seaside Cebu, projected to be the country’s largest convention center, and SMXCITE (Center for International Trade and Exhibitions), envisioned as the largest exhibition and trade hall venue in the Philippines.

“With the addition of these three trade halls, we are not only expanding our geographic reach but also creating more opportunities for businesses and communities to connect,” said SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation Senior Vice President Walid Wafik. “Our continued investments reflect our confidence in the Philippines’ growing MICE potential and our mission to deliver accessible, high-quality event spaces across the country,” he added.

The new trade halls will feature flexible layouts and modern infrastructure, integrated with adjacent retail and hospitality components to support events of varying scales. The expansion underscores SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation’s continued investment in building a nationwide network of venues aimed at supporting economic activity, tourism, and industry collaboration.
