Megaworld is set to introduce AI-powered homes in the Philippines this year, marking a new phase in its residential developments as artificial intelligence increasingly shapes everyday living. The initiative will debut in select properties, beginning with Park McKinley West in Taguig City, through a partnership with global technology company Samsung.
The collaboration brings Samsung’s SmartThings ecosystem into Megaworld’s residential projects, integrating an AI-driven digital platform designed to make homes more intuitive and responsive to residents’ lifestyles. The move combines Megaworld’s focus on real estate innovation with Samsung’s experience in AI-enabled home technologies.
Unlike conventional smart homes, Megaworld’s AI-powered residences are built around a centralized ecosystem that allows residents to manage and personalize their living spaces through a single application. Using SmartThings, homeowners can create automated routines based on factors such as time, weather, device status, and user behavior, enabling living spaces to adjust seamlessly to daily habits and preferences.
The homes are designed to integrate features such as intelligent climate control, adaptive lighting, and voice-activated systems that respond dynamically to occupants. The AI ecosystem is also intended to optimize performance, including energy use and overall efficiency, to deliver a more personalized and convenient living experience.
“Innovation is central to Megaworld’s vision of shaping future-ready communities. Through our AI-powered homes initiative, we are redefining residential living by creating intelligent spaces that enhance comfort, safety, and sustainability across our townships. This marks an important step in how we continue to elevate the living experience and set new standards for modern township developments,” said Francis Viernes, head of business innovation and transformation at Megaworld.
Under the program, buyers of Megaworld residential condominiums may opt to convert their units into AI-powered homes by integrating compatible Samsung appliances and devices, including televisions, washing machines, and air-conditioning units, into the SmartThings platform.
The initiative builds on Megaworld’s earlier push into smart developments through its iTownships program, launched nearly a decade ago to future-proof its communities through digital integration and connectivity. The company said the addition of AI technologies represents an evolution of that vision, aimed at enhancing how residents live, work, and spend their time within its townships.
Megaworld’s rollout comes amid growing AI adoption among Filipino households. A study by London-based public policy research firm Public First found that nearly half of Filipinos use AI-powered tools at least once a week, driven by widespread access through chatbots, virtual assistants, smart devices, and online platforms. The study also noted that Gen Z users account for a significant share of AI engagement in the country.
