Megaworld, Accor partner to open world’s largest Mövenpick hotel in Westside City

Megaworld Hotels & Resorts is set to bring a new global landmark to Entertainment City as it finalizes an agreement with Accor to convert the 1,530-room Grand Westside Hotel into Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside, poised to become the largest Mövenpick property in the world.

The partnership reinforces Megaworld’s position as a key player in the country’s expanding hospitality sector and strengthens Accor’s presence in a market that continues to benefit from rising domestic and international travel. The deal covers brand alignment, systems integration, and operational upgrades to be completed next year, paving the way for the hotel’s opening before the end of 2026.

Garth Simmons, Chief Operating Officer for Accor’s Premium, Midscale, and Economy Division in Asia, says the collaboration marks a significant step in the Group’s expansion strategy for the region. “Our partnership with Megaworld represents an important step in strengthening Accor’s footprint in the Philippines, a market that continues to demonstrate strong momentum in both international and domestic travel. Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside will stand as a flagship for our premium portfolio, supported by Accor’s global network and the reach of ALL Accor, which together help drive visibility and demand across key markets. This landmark hotel reflects our shared ambition to bring elevated, experience-driven hospitality to one of the country’s most dynamic destinations. We are proud to collaborate with Megaworld on a project that will contribute meaningfully to the Philippines’ tourism growth,” he says.

Andrew Langdon, Accor’s Chief Development Officer for Asia, underscores the Group’s long-term confidence in the Philippine market. “Across Asia, we continue to grow sustainably by collaborating closely with our partners and ensuring we bring the right brand to the right market. This reflects our owner-centric approach, our adaptability, and the strength of ALL Accor in amplifying the visibility of our premium brands. Our partnership with Megaworld for Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside underscores our confidence in the Philippines as a rapidly expanding market for high-quality, experience-driven hospitality. With increasing visitor arrivals and a growing domestic travel sector, this landmark project represents an opportunity to enhance our premium presence while contributing to the country’s long-term tourism growth,” he says.

Megaworld Hotels & Resorts Managing Director Cleofe Albiso says the rebrand signals the company’s readiness to further scale its offerings for a global audience. “The opening of the world’s largest Mövenpick is a powerful testament to our group’s efforts to scale our world-class offerings and meet the demands of the broader international market. It reflects our commitment to building the right facilities, empowering local talent, and reinforcing our readiness to welcome the rest of the world. This partnership reflects our shared belief that the Philippines is ready to stand as a distinct global destination. As we rebrand Grand Westside Hotel into the world’s largest Mövenpick, we continue to generate more jobs, help drive stronger tourism activity, and open doors for communities to grow alongside this development,” she says.

The agreement marks the second collaboration between the two companies after the successful conversion of Belmont Hotel Mactan into Mercure Mactan Cebu.

Situated within Megaworld’s 31-hectare Westside City township in Parañaque, Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside will rise as a 19-story, two-tower development with direct access to the Westside City integrated casino and entertainment complex via a dedicated sky bridge. The hotel will also be connected to the country’s first Grand Opera House and a set of performance venues envisioned to position Manila as a regional cultural hub. Guests will have access to specialty dining concepts and an expansive pool deck overlooking Manila Bay.

Accor’s global distribution network and the reach of its loyalty program, ALL Accor, are expected to significantly elevate the hotel’s global visibility and support broader tourism activity in the Philippines. The collaboration will allow the hotel to integrate Accor’s operational systems and service protocols while preserving Megaworld Hotels & Resorts’ distinct Sampaguita brand of hospitality.

Megaworld Hotels & Resorts continues to expand nationwide, currently managing nearly 7,000 room keys across 15 properties. Its growing pipeline includes new hotels in Pasig City, Pampanga, Iloilo, Bacolod, and two Palawan resort developments, which will add more than 2,000 room keys to its portfolio in the coming years.
