150 Years of American Standard: Innovation, comfort, and design inspired by life

Property Report Philippines attended the 150th anniversary celebration of American Standard, a milestone that highlights the brand’s enduring influence on how people experience comfort and convenience at home. For a century and a half, American Standard has helped shape everyday living — from morning routines to evening wind-down moments—with purposeful design, thoughtful technology, and reliable quality.

Across generations and around the world, American Standard has remained a trusted leader in bathroom and kitchen solutions. In the Philippines, the brand has become part of countless households, known for products that blend performance, style, and long-term value. As the brand marks this major milestone, American Standard reinforces its commitment to inspire people to create homes they will love every day.

American Standard celebrated its 150th year by bringing together valued trade partners, industry professionals, and media friends at the Partner’s Night dubbed “Inspired by Life.” Present at the event (L–R) were event host James Deakin, LIXIL Philippines leader Hermie Limbo, retail and marketing leader Emily Besavilla, water technology APAC leader Audrey Yeo, and global design Asia leader Antoine Besseyre des Horts.

Audrey Yeo, Leader for LIXIL Water Technology APAC, emphasized this direction during the event. “We want to ensure that the American Standard brand brings new technology and innovation to the market at accessible price points, and really provide comfort, user interface, and convenience for our customers,” she shared. “We are here to stay and serve the Filipino customers for a long time.”

Designing for Today’s Homes

One of the biggest shifts American Standard continues to address is the rise of multi-generational living—a hallmark of Filipino households. With grandparents, parents, and children often sharing one home, the brand’s design philosophy has evolved to accommodate varying needs and lifestyles.

“If you look at the current trend today, we are addressing multi-generational homes,” Yeo explained. “For the young and upcoming who are starting to build their nest, they are looking at how the space and design can express their individuality. They are looking at how products can address their style in their home environment.”

Customization, therefore, plays a central role. “We come up with solutions that address this—with customization, colors, and finishes,” Yeo noted. This direction is reflected in American Standard’s expanding Color Fittings collection, which offers finishes such as Matte Black, Cool Sunrise, and Hard Graphite to help homeowners personalize their spaces.

Solutions for Every Generation

Beyond aesthetics, American Standard remains focused on usability and adaptability—especially in modern compact homes where every square meter must be maximized.

“When there are three generations in a home, we have solutions that address how products can be seamlessly woven into compact spaces,” Yeo said. “We also address the needs of the aging care segment, and for young families as well. We look at the needs and customize the technology we provide.”

Innovations such as the e-Lite with hands-free features, the Aero-lite wall-hung toilet for space optimization, and multifunctional hand sprays like DuoSTiX are part of this thoughtful approach. These products are designed to enhance hygiene, convenience, and comfort for all household members.

After 150 years, American Standard continues to shape homes with solutions inspired by life, love, and home—ensuring comfort for generations to come.
