The festive spirit of the season arrived early at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell Center, where Rockwell and 9 Works Theatrical hosted members of the press on November 7, 2025, to celebrate the upcoming staging of A Christmas Carol.
The afternoon, hosted by Mariella Laurel and John Joven Uy, brought together the full cast and creative team for a preview of the show, complemented by a special performance at the Holiday Fair along Proscenium Retail Row. Guests were treated to a blend of music, laughter, and Christmas joy.
A landmark collaboration
Tracey Castillo, Vice President for Marketing at Rockwell Land and Executive Producer, welcomed attendees alongside Santi Santamaria, Managing Director and Executive Producer of 9 Works Theatrical. Both highlighted the continued partnership between Rockwell and 9 Works in bringing international-caliber theater experiences to local audiences.
Director Robbie Guevara shared his enthusiasm for the production, describing it as “one of the best classical stories ever written.” He added that the Proscenium Theater offers “the best venue in the country” to present a production of this scale and heart.
“We really want to highlight the Proscenium Theater,” Guevara said. “We’ll be showcasing stagecrafts that have been done in other countries, but haven’t been seen here yet. We’ll also introduce new elements you didn’t see in The Bodyguard (The Musical).”
The cast bringing the story to life
Arnel Carrion leads the cast as Ebenezer Scrooge, supported by Franco Laurel, Lorenz Martinez, Carmelle Ros, Boo Gabunada, CJ Navato, Nicole Omillo, Neo Rivera, and Molly Langley. Returning performers from the 2017 staging of A Christmas Carol, alongside talents from 9 Works and The Sandbox Collective, joined the production to highlight the importance of reintroducing the classic tale to a new generation.
The children of A Christmas Carol were especially excited as they introduced themselves to the press, sharing how much fun it has been to rehearse and to be part of this production.
With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and a book by Mike Ockrent and Lynn Ahrens, A Christmas Carol will run on weekends from November 29 to December 21, 2025, at the Proscenium Theater. Tickets are available through TicketWorld.com.ph, TicketWorld outlets, and the Power Plant Cinema. Updates can be found on social media via @prosceniumtheater.
The production is presented by Rockwell and staged by 9 Works Theatrical, with MAC Cosmetics as the official make-up partner.
