Megaworld strengthens retail footprint with 30,000 sqm expansion

Megaworld is stepping up its retail game as it prepares to open more than 30,000 square meters of new commercial spaces in prime locations across Metro Manila and Boracay. The expansion, led by its retail and commercial arm Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, reflects the strong appetite for premium retail destinations within the company’s master-planned townships.

Expanding in key growth centers

Set to welcome tenants and guests this year are new retail hubs at McKinley West in Taguig, Makati, Alabang West in Las Piñas, and Boracay Newcoast in Aklan. The developments bring Megaworld closer to its goal of reaching one million square meters of gross leasable area by 2030.

One of the highlights is The Shoppes at Park McKinley West, a two-story retail podium designed as the centerpiece of the Park McKinley West condominium community. Here, residents and visitors can look forward to a curated mix of international retailers, new-to-market concepts, and beloved local dining names such as Ogawa Traditional Japanese Restaurant, Tartufo, Royal Indian Curry House, One World Deli, George & Onnie’s, Café 17, Nightshade Cocktails & Bar, Hanamaruken, and Yakiniku Sudaku.

The Newcoast Beachwalk in Boracay Newcoast

Meanwhile, Makati will soon see the opening of a new lifestyle mall at Vion Tower, strategically located along EDSA corner Chino Roces Avenue. Additional retail spaces are also underway at Alabang West, while in Boracay Newcoast, the Newcoast Beachwalk is gearing up to debut an array of dining, retail, and services for the island’s growing tourist market.

Enhancing lifestyle experiences

“We are growing our leasing business by bringing our signature lifestyle mall concept to more locations while introducing new experiences that resonate with today’s consumers. This approach allows us to drive sustained growth for Megaworld and, at the same time, enhance the value of our townships nationwide,” said Graham Coates, head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.

The retail expansion is backed by strong financial performance. Megaworld Lifestyle Malls posted Php 3.33 billion in leasing revenues in the first half of 2025, a 10 percent increase from the same period last year, buoyed by higher foot traffic and continued demand from premium tenants.

Earlier this year, the company also unveiled the Imperial Wing at Lucky Chinatown in Binondo, boosting the mall’s total retail space to 36,000 square meters.

Towards a larger retail vision

With these developments, Megaworld is steadily building a more robust and diversified retail network. Each project is designed not just as a commercial hub but also as a lifestyle destination that integrates seamlessly with the surrounding community.

As the company sharpens its focus on retail, its growing portfolio signals confidence in the country’s consumer market, and in the enduring appeal of lifestyle-driven developments.
