As the building and construction sectors remain among the world’s largest generators of waste, global bathroom solutions and kitchen fittings brand GROHE continues to push for sustainable innovation through its Cradle to Cradle Certified® (C2C) portfolio.
The Cradle to Cradle® design principle applies the circular economy concept by ensuring materials remain in a continuous “useful loop.” Instead of being discarded, components are designed to be reused or repurposed, significantly reducing the sector’s contribution to global waste. Products under this certification are evaluated across five sustainability criteria: Material Health, Recyclability, Renewable Energy, Water Efficiency, and Social Responsibility.

Strengthening its commitment to circular design, GROHE has introduced new Gold-level certified products, including the BauEdge S-Size, Eurosmart S-Size, Eurosmart Kitchen, and the Tempesta shower rail set. Gold certification requires stricter standards, with only the purest materials permitted in production.

The company first entered the C2C framework in 2021 with two Bronze-level products: the Tempesta two-spray hand shower and the GROHE Blue filters. Bronze certification is granted to products whose design does not require modifications or substitutions of components.

For its certification, GROHE partnered with EPEA GmbH – part of Drees & Sommer in Hamburg – an accredited C2C assessor. To maintain its certification, GROHE undergoes a rigorous recertification process every two years.

With six products now carrying Cradle to Cradle Certified® recognition, GROHE reinforces its role in shaping a more sustainable future for the building industry. The brand’s efforts align with global calls to lessen waste generation and advance responsible design in construction and consumer products.
