Every August, we celebrate Buwan ng Wika—a month dedicated to honoring our language, culture, and heritage as Filipinos. More than just a celebration of words, it is also a time to reflect on how our shared language connects us, builds bridges within our communities, and strengthens the foundations of our homes.
Do you know that there are about 120 spoken languages in the Philippines? Because of our archipelagic nature, we have many ways by which we communicate. Yet despite the language differences, there is the pervading and singular feeling of being Filipino. This is also the same with Wilcon Depot. We have more than 100 stores found in almost every corner of the archipelago. Yet, in every Wilcon Depot store from up north to down south, we speak a singular language of premium quality, optimum service and innovation. Whether the local language is Bisaya, Ilokano, Bikolano, Kapampangan, or Tagalog, we all communicate in the language of understanding, care and commitment to the Filipino builder.
This is also the wisdom behind being present in the regions. There are many nuances in language. What sounds correct in one may have an entirely different meaning in another. At Wilcon, we go beyond hearing what you say, we listen to what you need and try to respond in the best possible way. We communicate, we respond, we interface, we hear you.
Case in point is our Bulacan branch, where we continuously strive to understand and cater to the unique lifestyles of Bulakenyos. Rooted in a province rich with history and heritage, the warmth and resilience of the Bulakenyo spirit are carried not only through their dialect but also in the way they build and nurture their homes and communities.
And a clear proof of this commitment is the recent reopening of our Baliuag branch last month, after the unfortunate fire incident that occurred last year. During that time, many of our employees were forced to pause their operations and face difficult challenges. Yet, with resilience, dedication, and the unwavering support of our community, we were able to rise again and bring the branch back to life—stronger and better equipped to serve the needs of Bulakenyos.
Just as our national language unites Filipinos across generations, Wilcon’s mission is to provide a strong foundation for homes that bring families closer together. By supporting Bulakenyos in building durable, functional, and beautiful spaces, we take part in strengthening not only houses but also the communities they belong to.
So, as we honor our identity this month, may we also be reminded that the true essence of Buwan ng Wika lies in how we use our language and culture to inspire progress and unity.
At Wilcon Depot, we will always stand ready to help every Filipino household build better, live better, and dream bigger.
Let’s Do It With Wilcon.
