Rainy days and leaky roofs

Damages at home affect the feng shui and, therefore, our energy

I had found my dream house — the one that made me happy, the one that I thought was good for my mind — but I could not stay there.

This was because there were problems with the way it was built. So even if it had the high ceiling of my dreams, whenever it rained hard, it felt like the rain entered the house, too. It triggered my PTSD (from the Ondoy floods).

There were no actual floods anywhere around the house, but it was “flooding” inside. Water seeped into the walls, endangering the electrical system, among others. It made the beautiful black marble floor slippery, and damaged a lot of my things.

I saved money in order for the necessary repairs to be done. But in the course of the repairs, we realized there were things we could no longer do anything about, including the waterproofing.

So no matter how much I loved the place and being there, it was always going to be damaged, and it was always going to be bad for my energy and well-being.

I write this while the rain is pouring hard. It looks like Rainy Season 2025 has really officially begun. The rain points out to me parts of my current rental that need to be repaired ASAP.

This made me wonder: if I left damages unrepaired, do they affect my energy and maybe even luck? If you believe in feng shui, this is for you.

Leaky roofs and broken windows: Disrupting heaven and protection

A leaky roof is a major feng shui concern. The roof represents the “heaven” element in feng shui, symbolizing protection and the flow of positive energy from above.

A leak disrupts this flow, creating a sense of vulnerability and instability. It can lead to feelings of anxiety, insecurity, and even health problems for the occupants.

The constant dripping sound can be particularly disruptive to the peaceful energy of the home.

Windows in feng shui represent the eyes of the house, allowing the flow of energy in and out. Broken windows compromise this delicate balance, symbolizing a breach in protection and a potential leakage of wealth and good fortune. They can leave occupants feeling exposed and vulnerable, both physically and energetically.

These issues require immediate attention.

For example: A family constantly stressed by a leaky roof might experience increased conflict, mirroring the instability of the damaged structure. Similarly, a broken window might lead to feelings of insecurity and financial anxieties.

What to do: Prioritize repairs. For roofs, consider professional inspection and repair. For windows, ensure sturdy replacements that enhance security and aesthetics.

Damaged doors: Compromising opportunities

Doors are gateways for energy flow. A damaged door — whether it’s a broken handle, a warped frame, or difficulty closing — hinders the smooth flow of qi, potentially blocking opportunities and positive energy.

For example: A constantly sticking door might symbolize obstacles and delays in various aspects of life, from career advancements to personal relationships.

What to do: Repair or replace damaged doors promptly. Ensure they open and close smoothly, symbolizing the ease with which opportunities flow into your life.

Clogged drains and plumbing issues: Stagnant energy

Clogged drains and plumbing problems represent stagnant energy, mirroring blockages in various aspects of life.

The lingering smell and dampness create negative energy, hindering the flow of positive qi.

For example: A perpetually clogged sink might symbolize a build-up of unresolved issues or emotional stagnation.

What to do: Maintain a clean and efficient drainage system. Address plumbing issues immediately to prevent the build-up of negative energy.

Pest infestations: Disrupting harmony

Pest infestations disrupt the harmony of the home. The presence of insects or rodents creates an environment of unease and instability, negatively affecting the energy flow.

For example: A cockroach infestation might symbolize hidden problems or anxieties that need addressing.

What to do: Maintain a clean and pest-free environment. Address infestations promptly to restore harmony and positive energy.

Cracks in walls and floors: Underlying instability

Cracks in walls and foundations represent underlying instability and potential structural problems. They can create a sense of unease and insecurity, mirroring potential challenges in various aspects of life.

For example: A large crack in a wall might symbolize a significant challenge or disruption in family life.

What to do: Address cracks promptly. Consult a structural engineer if necessary to ensure the safety and stability of your home.

Electrical problems: Disrupting the flow

Faulty wiring or electrical problems disrupt the flow of energy, both literally and figuratively. They can create a sense of unease and instability, potentially affecting the overall energy of the home.

For example: Flickering lights might symbolize uncertainty or instability in various areas of life.

What to do: Address electrical problems immediately. Ensure your home’s electrical system is safe and functioning correctly.

Regular home maintenance is crucial, not just for structural integrity but also for optimal feng shui.

Addressing even minor issues promptly prevents the build-up of negative energy and maintains a harmonious living environment.

By prioritizing repairs, you create a space that supports well-being, prosperity, and peace.
