Ascott Philippines at 25: Honoring a milestone rooted in purpose

This year, The Ascott Limited Philippines celebrates its Silver Jubilee, a remarkable 25-year journey that shines not just with longevity but also with purpose. Since opening Somerset Millennium Makati in 2000, Ascott has steadily transformed the hospitality landscape, bringing world-class serviced living to the heart of the Philippines while staying anchored to the soul of Filipino warmth.

“It is with immense pride and profound gratitude that Ascott Philippines celebrates our 25th anniversary, an incredible milestone that serves as a powerful testament to our sustained commitment to excellence and innovation,” shared Mr. Patrick Vaysse, Ascott Philippines Country General Manager. His words resonate across decades of dedication, growth, and hospitality that feels like home.

A night of elegance and legacy in lights

The Silver Jubilee was celebrated in style on June 16 at the National Museum of Natural History in Manila. It was a fitting venue where modern elegance and cultural heritage converge. Dressed in modern Filipinianas, guests were treated to a grand showcase of talent, with performances from the Philippine Ballet Theatre and Quartet Manila. In a symbolic moment, ballerinas and Ascott leaders lit 2,000 electronic candles along the museum’s iconic steps, a tribute to the year Ascott first lit up lives in the Philippines.

From its humble beginnings to now 17 properties nationwide, Ascott’s presence has grown through five distinctive brands: Ascott, Oakwood, Citadines, Somerset, and lyf. They all offer thoughtfully curated experiences that reflect both international standards and Filipino sensibilities.

Recognizing the visionaries behind the brand

At the heart of Ascott’s journey are the people and partnerships that brought the vision to life. The inaugural Diamond Star Award was presented to Mrs. Melesa “Elsie” Chua, the pioneering partner behind Somerset Millennium Makati. A total of 33 property partners were honored for their steadfast contributions, proof that Ascott’s growth is, above all, a collective achievement.

Milestone awards were also given to key properties such as Somerset Millennium Makati (25 years), Citadines Salcedo Makati, and Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila (10 years)—each one a testament to enduring quality and service.

Sustainability with heart: Ascott Cares

Beyond hospitality, Ascott has made bold strides in sustainability through its Ascott Cares program. In partnership with the Kabang Kalikasan ng Pilipinas Foundation, the company raised Php 294,720 through plushie sales, an effort that made conservation engaging, accessible, and meaningful.

The initiative, recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, underscores Ascott’s continued drive to build not only homes but also a better, more responsible future.

Expanding with purpose

Ascott’s journey in the Philippines is far from over. Intending to grow to 30 properties and 6,000 keys by 2028, the brand continues to shape new urban experiences. New Somerset openings in Valero, Makati and Gorordo, Cebu are just on the horizon.

And for loyal guests, the celebration continues with the 25 Years, 5 Brands, and 25 Thousand rewards program—a thank-you gift that invites guests to rediscover Ascott, one stay at a time.

More than a celebration, it’s a call to connection

In commemorating 25 years, Ascott reminds us that hospitality is not only about buildings or brands; it’s about people, culture, and connection. And as the company looks to the future, it does so with the same spirit that first brought it to the country: the promise of home, wherever you are in the world.
