Isabela’s Cathedral Village joins NHMFC’s green housing push

The National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) took another step toward sustainable housing with the signing of a Green Covenant enrolling the Cathedral Village Project in Gamu, Isabela into its BERDE (Building Eligible Resilient Dwelling for Everyone) Program.

Developed by Uanjelle Land and Stagno Properties, represented by Former Isabela Governor Faustino Dy Jr., the project is now part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s flagship Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) initiative. Under the BERDE Program, qualified housing projects enjoy interest rates as low as 3% for up to 30 years.

Cathedral Village, which dedicates 70% of its land to open space, integrates energy-efficient solar panels and microgrid systems by GBF New Power Group. It also provides access to safe water and sanitation in partnership with Water.org. Homeowners can look forward to zero utility bills for the first five years—one of the program’s key affordability benefits.

“These renewable energy systems create new opportunities in construction, technology, and financial services,” said NHMFC President Renato L. Tobias. “The green housing units in Isabela will significantly improve long-term affordability.”

Tobias also emphasized Water.org’s role in enhancing access to clean water for Isabeleños and noted that the green mortgages generated from these projects will be securitized into sustainable or green bonds, providing financial liquidity to fund more eco-conscious housing nationwide.

The signing was attended by Former Governor Dy, Alduane Alegria of Uanjelle Land, Anthony Dy of Stagno Properties, GBF New Power Group CEO Samuel Yang, and representatives from Water.org.
