GenteelHome and Catriona Gray showcase Filipino craftsmanship

Pampanga-based luxury furniture brand Genteelhome has unveiled its first outdoor collection, PAYAK, in collaboration with artist-advocate and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. The line marries functional design with cultural storytelling, spotlighting the resilience of Filipino craftsmanship while redefining outdoor luxury.

Spearheaded by Principal Designer and CEO Katrina Blanca De Leon, the collection reflects Genteelhome’s dedication to elevating local artistry. Gray’s lifelong passion for art and heritage advocacy aligns seamlessly with the brand’s mission, resulting in pieces that blend simplicity, durability, and profound cultural narratives.

Engineering excellence meets artisanal mastery

Crafted for indoor and outdoor versatility, the PAYAK Collection employs premium teak wood, celebrated for its natural resistance to warping, pests, and tropical weather. High-performance fabrics combat UV exposure and moisture without sacrificing luxury, while lampakanay rope—a material ideal for humid climates—adds tactile elegance through its durable, handwoven finish.

Cultural stories woven into design

Balik-Tanaw-Sidetable

Each piece is a tribute to Philippine traditions and landscapes. The Mayon Lounge Chair mirrors the fluidity of Mayon Volcano’s lava flows, with warm hues inspired by childhood memories of Bicol. The Pinay Accent Chair reimagines the Baro’t Saya’s sleeves and Yakan weaving, paired with ergonomic teakwood framing.

The Balik Tanaw Side Table features solihiya weaving under an awning-shaped glass top, casting shadows that honor ancestral textile practices. Meanwhile, the Beh & She Side Tables draw from T’boli jewelry and folk dance, their brass accents symbolizing camaraderie. Completing the narrative, the Kapit-Bisig Shelving Unit integrates abaca weaving, bridging generations of craftswomen with contemporary design.
