Preserving heritage, inspiring communities: SMDC’s P100M commitment to culture and the arts

SM Development Corporation (SMDC) reinforces its commitment to cultural preservation with a P100-million, three-year pledge to support the National Museum of the Philippines. The funding will drive structural upgrades, conservation efforts, and educational programs to safeguard the country’s heritage.

“At SMDC, we have always believed that beyond building our developments, we are responsible for creating spaces that inspire, uplift, and enrich lives. Through this partnership with the National Museum of the Philippines, we reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding and promoting Filipino heritage,” said Grace M. Sta. Ana, SMDC Executive Vice President and Head of Core Operations.

Strategically located near cultural landmarks like the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Intramuros, and the National Museum Complex, SMDC’s Bayside Living communities in MOA Complex and Roxas Boulevard integrate heritage appreciation into modern urban life. These developments prioritize proximity to arts and history hubs, fostering resident engagement with the nation’s legacy.

Sta. Ana emphasized SMDC’s pioneering role in merging real estate with heritage conservation. “Through this multi-year commitment, SMDC is setting a new benchmark for corporate engagement in cultural preservation, demonstrating that real estate development and heritage conservation can go hand in hand,” Sta. Ana explained. “By supporting museums, exhibitions, and educational programs, SMDC is helping ensure that Filipino heritage remains relevant and accessible for generations to come.”

Complementing the effort, SM Supermalls will amplify the National Museum’s outreach through its nationwide network, promoting exhibitions and educational programs to broaden public access to cultural initiatives.

The partnership underscores SMDC’s vision of creating communities where history and progress coexist, enriching city living through sustained investment in the arts.
