“Golf is a dance, and your swing is the choreography.”
Another year, another step on the green. Another year of syncing my body to the projectile of the ball before me. And another year of reveling in friendly yet meaningful competition.
Golf has often been described as a game of patience, precision, and perseverance—qualities that resonate with our journey at Wilcon Depot. This year, as we hosted the Wilcon Cup 2025 at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, we embraced the true spirit of the sport, not just in the pursuit of excellence on the green but in our commitment to making a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
The Wilcon Cup has always been more than just a golf tournament. It is a platform where camaraderie meets compassion, where every swing contributes to a cause greater than ourselves. In its 8th edition, we proudly continued our tradition of supporting meaningful advocacies by raising funds for our long-time beneficiaries– ABS-CBN Foundation—Bantay Kalikasan, Crocodylus Porosus Philippines Inc., the Wilcon Depot Foundation and the new addition to our circle of beneficiaries– Casa de Silencio, a retirement home for priests in the Diocese of Cubao. These organizations are dedicated to making a difference—whether through environmental conservation, wildlife protection, spiritual formation and caring for the elderly or community development.
Of course, just like in previous years, the success of the Wilcon Cup 2025 would not have been possible without the support of our media partners, esteemed business leaders, valued suppliers, and dear friends who once again joined us in celebrating this annual event. Everyone put on their best smiles, carrying themselves with confidence through each hole. I was amazed by the grace and power in their swings (notwithstanding heft or age). Small wonder though, because they were all passionate and dedicate individuals.
So some of you may think golf is a ridiculous exercise of hitting a small ball through a vast space and hoping it would land in a tiny hole. Think again. As I stood before our participants that morning, I was reminded of the famous words of P.G. Wodehouse: “To find a man’s true character, play golf with him.” Focus. Perseverance. Grace. Golf has a way of revealing not just skill but integrity, perseverance, and grace under pressure. And in this tournament, the character of our Wilcon community shone brightly—not only in the precision of their swings but in their willingness to give, share, and uplift others.
Beyond the friendly competition, the laughter, and the shared moments on the fairways, what truly matters is the impact we leave behind. The funds raised will go toward sustaining the initiatives of our beneficiaries, ensuring that our game extends far beyond the course.
Wilcon Depot has always believed in building beyond structures—we build relationships, we build communities, and most importantly, we build hope. As we set our sights on the future, we remain committed to using our platform to drive meaningful change, one initiative at a time.
