The Taguig City Integrated Terminal Exchange (TCITX) and Southeast Metro Manila Expressway (SEMME) have officially broken ground, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of urban mobility and infrastructure investment in Metro Manila. These projects are set to streamline transportation, enhance connectivity, and support economic growth—critical factors in the region’s long-term development.
A major milestone
The TCITX, a 5.57-hectare multi-modal transport hub, is designed to accommodate 160,000 passengers and 5,200 vehicles daily, seamlessly integrating with the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) and Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP).
For Taguig City Mayor Maria Laarni Cayetano, the project is a strategic step toward a more efficient and people-centric transport system.

“Beyond improving mobility, the TCITX embodies our shared commitment to a transformative, lively, and caring city. It is transformative because it modernizes our transport infrastructure, ensuring that Taguig remains at the forefront of progress. It is lively, as it supports economic activity by providing better access to jobs, businesses, and opportunities. Most importantly, it is caring because it prioritizes the needs of commuters, offering a more efficient, safe, and dignified commuting experience.”
Beyond transportation, TCITX is expected to drive commercial activity by improving access to businesses and employment hubs, creating new opportunities for growth and investment.
A legacy continued
Situated in Arca South, a 74-hectare mixed-use development by Ayala Land, TCITX is strategically positioned to become Metro Manila’s next business and commercial hub.
For Ayala Land President & CEO Anna ‘Meean’ Dy, the project is a continuation of Arca South’s legacy as a vital economic gateway.
“This was the site of a food terminal—a facility that connected Metro Manila with the provinces, ensuring food safety, stable food prices, and food security for the whole metropolis. Today, we go back to its roots as a gateway, again connecting Metro Manila to the provinces. This time, not just for food, but for people, for commerce, and for ideas.”
The estate is set to house major commercial and retail developments, including Ayala Malls Arca South (opening December 2025), the Healthyway Cancer Care Medical Center, and The Blue Leaf, a premier events venue. With its growing list of residential and office developments, Arca South is positioned to be a key driver of economic activity in Metro Manila’s southern corridor.
Unlocking mobility
In parallel with TCITX, the SEMME/C6 Expressway Phase 1 Project will further unlock urban mobility by providing an alternative route to decongest major roadways. Spanning 32.7 km, SEMME will link SLEX Skyway via FTI to Batasan, Quezon City, significantly cutting travel time across the metro.
For DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista, the collaboration between the public and private sectors has been instrumental in pushing these large-scale infrastructure projects forward.
“These developments would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our government and private sector partners. Their dedication, expertise, and shared commitment to transforming our transportation sector fuel our determination to push boundaries and drive meaningful progress.”
TCITX and SEMME represent a strategic commitment to modernizing urban transport, ensuring that infrastructure investments continue to drive business opportunities, economic development, and long-term growth—all while putting the dignity and experience of commuters first.
