“Success is a journey, not a destination.”
Every individual has their definition of success. For some, it might be accomplishing a specific goal—landing a dream job, buying a home, or launching a business. These are often seen as tangible measures of success. However, others view success as the moments and milestones along the way– the relationships they build, the challenges they overcome, and the personal growth they experience.
For many years, I have embraced various roles that are congruent to my understanding of success. We become leaders, be a parent and raise a family, or be a dreamer with a persistent passion for building something greater. Each role comes with invaluable lessons about perseverance, responsibility, and the impact of nurturing both people and dreams. These experiences have not only defined who I am but also deepened my belief that true success lies in the ability to inspire, uplift, and create lasting change in the lives of others.
That is also what I felt when I reflected on Wilcon Depot’s remarkable achievement during the year 2024. As we celebrated the “Isang Daan: 100 Store Milestone” at Shangri-La The Fort with around 500 guests—a mix of local and international partners, suppliers, and dear friends—I was overwhelmed with gratitude and pride. I couldn’t help but look back on our journey, remembering the humble beginnings, the challenges we faced, and the countless moments of triumph that brought us to this extraordinary milestone.
In my welcome speech, I shared a thought that stayed with me throughout this journey—Wilcon Depot began not with grandiose plans but with simple dreams of elevating Filipino homes by providing world-class products and services. Over the years, those dreams transformed into goals, strategies, and tangible success stories that fill our hearts with gratitude and pride.
The evening’s program was nothing short of magical. Vibrant performances celebrated the energy and culture that have fueled Wilcon’s journey. We also presented The Beacon to our founder and chairman emeritus, Dr. William T. Belo. Crafted by renowned Filipino artist Marge Organo, this exquisite glass sculpture in Wilcon’s signature green symbolizes clarity, resilience, and brilliance—qualities that reflect Dr. Belo’s visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to Wilcon’s mission.
The evening closed with an inspiring message from our President and CEO, Ms. Lorraine Belo-Cincochan. Her words of gratitude echoed with everyone in the room. She reminded us that while this milestone is remarkable, it is not the culmination of our journey but a stepping stone to even greater things.
As I looked around that night, I saw faces beaming with pride and joy—faces that have walked alongside us through challenges and triumphs. Of course, being part of the company, we celebrated not just the 100 stores but also the thousands of homes we have helped build, the lives we have touched, and the dreams we have helped our customers bring to life.
Wilcon Depot’s journey is far from over. As we continue to operate and grow, I am hopeful and determined that we will become far more significant than we ever dreamed through hard work and collaboration. And just like what I have said during the event,
“Isang daan na Wilcon, isang daan pang Wilcon, isa lang ang daan: Wilcon.”
And to everyone who has been part of this journey— thank you for dreaming with us. Here’s to building more homes, touching more lives, and reaching even greater heights—together.
Let’s Do It With Wilcon!
