Yap reappointed DHSUD undersecretary

Henry Yap, Architect, Environmental Planner and regular Property Report contributor, was recently reappointed by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. as Undersecretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and took his oath before Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar last December 2024.

Currently the Undersecretary for Planning, International Cooperation and Institutional Partnerships, he serves as alternate of the DHSUD Secretary to the boards of the National Housing Authority, Home Development Mutual Fund, National Home Mortgage and Finance Corporation, and National Human Settlement Board, among others.

Named the 2023 Professional Regulations Commission’s Most Outstanding Professional in the field of Environmental Planning, he was conferred by the United Architects of the Philippines as Member Emeritus in 2024. He is a Fellow in Real Estate Management, FIABCI-Philippines, since 2022 and a Fellow of the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners since 2006.

Undersecretary Yap holds a MSc in Urban Planning in Developing Countries from the University of Wales at Cardiff, United Kingdom and was a BSc Architecture cum laude graduate of the University of the Philippines.

Prior to joining government, he worked and retired from the private sector after nearly 4 decades of practice, had taught Architecture and Planning at the University of the Philippines, and authored and co-authored two real estate and planning books.
