Fully Booked marked a major milestone with the opening of its third collaboration store with Japan’s Books Kinokuniya at SM North EDSA, Quezon City, on December 6, 2024.
Following the success of its branches at Mitsukoshi Mall in 2022 and SM Mall of Asia in 2023, this new store brings the unique Fully Booked x Kinokuniya experience to the northern part of Metro Manila.
In an interview with The Philippine STAR, Jaime Daez, managing director of Fully Booked, shared that the collaboration with Kinokuniya is deeply personal.
“Ever since I got into the book business in 1996, Kinokuniya has always been my gold standard as a bookstore. I used to frequent their main branch at the Takashimaya Complex in Singapore, and I always felt like it was the best bookstore in the world,” he shared.
“To have the chance to partner with them has been a dream come true. It’s like teaming up with Michael Jordan—it cannot get any better than working with your idol.” Daez said.
He also emphasized the synergy between the two brands, especially their shared passion for Japanese manga, art, and literature.
“Fully Booked has always taken pride in our comprehensive range of graphic novels and English manga. This partnership felt like a natural fit from the very beginning,” he added.
The SM North EDSA branch offers a curated selection of fiction, non-fiction, self-help, and business titles, alongside a spotlight on Japanese literature, manga, art books, and Japanese language materials—comprising half of the store’s inventory.
The store also offers a variety of Japanese stationery and merchandise, including items from Studio Ghibli and San-X. Popular collectibles such as Sonny Angel and Smiski blind boxes are also available.
On its opening day, highly sought-after items like SMISKI Hippers, SMISKI Touch Light, and Sonny Angel Hippers were in stock.
To celebrate the opening, Fully Booked is offering exclusive promos for its grand opening weekend from December 6-8, 2024. Customers with a minimum single receipt purchase of P3,000 can receive a free Fully Booked Discount Card and enjoy 50% off any Fully Booked-branded tote bag. The discount card provides a lifetime 10% discount on d-coded items and a 20% birthday discount.
