The Capacity to Dream

On January 2015, Pope Francis delivered a pastoral message in Manila, urging Filipinos not to lose their capability to dream of others. He said, “Don’t lose the ability to dream.”

That message resonates deeply with me because I’ve always considered dreams more of a journey than a mere destination. This is why at Wilcon Depot, we savor and learn from every step, struggle, challenge, and victory that we encounter as we approach our dreams. At Wilcon, we never lose the capacity to dream, ever mindful of the goal as we build and launch one store at a time. Our dream is to help bring the Filipinos’ aspirations for a better life to fruition. This is also the guiding spirit the spurs our #FlyingHighTo100 campaign. And now, as we open our 99th store that dream to the 100th establishment is just a breath away.

Wilcon Depot proudly continues its expansion journey with the grand opening of its 99th store in Pagbilao, Quezon Province. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was graced by [L-R] HCG Distributorship Manager Paul Wu, Wilcon Depot VP-Human Resources Grace Tiong, President and CEO Lorraine Belo-Cincochan, SEVP-COO Rosemarie Bosch-Ong, Municipality of Pagbilao, Quezon Mayor Hon. Angelica “Gigi” Portes-Tatlonghari, Vice Mayor Hon. Shierre Ann Portes-Palicpic, Provincial Governor Honorable Doktora Helen Tan Representative: Romano Franco C. Talaga, Franke Home Solutions South East Asia and North East Asia Sales Director Markus Ratfelder, Wilcon Depot AVP for Sales & Operations Erine Borja, and Limson Marketing Inc. CEO Carl Lim, marking another milestone in bringing quality home improvement solutions closer to more Filipinos.

I remember, back when Wilcon Depot had only a handful of stores—stores you could count on your fingers—our team was filled with joy and pride. Maybe stores then weren’t all that huge. But we always had the courage to start humble and dream big. For us, it wasn’t the size of the business or the number of branches that defined our happiness, but it was the shared sense of purpose, the excitement of building something meaningful, and the deep commitment to serving every customer who walked through our doors.

In those early days, our resources were limited, but our dreams were limitless. Each store felt like a beacon of hope, symbolizing our determination to bring high-quality home improvement solutions to Filipino families. We celebrated every milestone, no matter how small, because we understood each achievement was a step forward in a journey without shortcuts.

In the first week of December, we open our 99th store in Pagbilao, Quezon, a deeply meaningful milestone. We celebrate the spirit of teamwork and perseverance. Every store reflects countless hours of dedication by the Wilcon family, from envisioning a space to meticulously curating a selection of top-tier products.

We are committed to providing Filipinos access to high-quality home-building materials and exceptional service. In Pagbilao, the 99th step in this campaign, we extend this commitment further. It is a testament to what we can achieve when passion meets purpose and when every small step builds upon the last.

We started the year by launching our 91st store in Morong, Rizal. More stores followed in quick succession, covering the entire breadth of the country, from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. With only one store left to reach our goal, I can look back at the long road we have traveled so far and smile with gratitude.

The journey was not always smooth—there were challenges, hurdles, and moments of doubt. Yet, there were also countless joys, partnerships strengthened, and communities transformed. This is the essence of the #FlyingHighTo100 campaign— to not only dream but to act and to build each dream brick by brick.

I am grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey. Wilcon Depot’s success is a shared victory powered by our team, loyal customers, and our communities.

Shop at Wilcon Depot, and together, let’s build the future, one project, one home, and one dream at a time.

As the pontiff said, never lose the capacity to dream – especially if that dream is for others.
