Filinvest Land, Inc. (FLI), a premier developer in the Philippines, has reaffirmed its leadership in sustainability by winning the 2024 Excellence in Ecology and Economy Award in the Large Enterprise Excellence Category. This award, presented during the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (PCCI) 50th Philippine Business and Conference Expo, highlights FLI’s deep-rooted commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable business practices. The award was handed out by Hon. Sara Duterte, Vice President of the Philippines, underscoring the prestigious recognition.
The Excellence in Ecology and Economy Award honors businesses that go beyond regulatory compliance to implement impactful environmental and sustainable initiatives. For FLI, these programs are woven into their core operations, creating meaningful social and economic benefits.
Flagship projects at the forefront of sustainability
From the outset, sustainability has been an integral part of FLI’s mission, a commitment showcased in its flagship project, Filinvest City. As the first and only central business district in the Philippines to earn LEEDv4 Gold certification for Neighborhood Development Plan, Filinvest City is a benchmark in sustainable urban development. The district also holds a 3-star BERDE certification, further highlighting FLI’s dedication to green building practices.
In a stride toward renewable energy, Festival Mall features a solar rooftop system, a project launched in partnership with Filinvest-ENGIE Renewable Energy Enterprise. With 5,303 photovoltaic panels producing 2.8 MW of clean energy annually, this initiative prevents around 2,836 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. This environmental impact is akin to removing 675 gasoline vehicles from the road or planting 46,894 tree seedlings over a decade.
Green buildings and smart innovations
FLI’s dedication to sustainable architecture extends to One Filinvest, an office tower in Ortigas that has earned LEED Gold certification. The building is engineered to be 10% more energy-efficient than conventional structures, utilizing 35% less water to reduce environmental impact.
Studio 7, a mixed-use development in Quezon City, also exemplifies FLI’s commitment, holding LEED Silver certification for its energy-efficient technologies. In residential projects, FLI integrates its Venti-lite concept at mid-rise communities like Panglao Oasis in Taguig and Belize Oasis in Muntinlupa. This approach, which uses sky gardens and air wells to enhance natural light and ventilation, has set these communities on track for EDGE Pre-certification, ensuring that green living is accessible across all types of developments.
Corporate social responsibility beyond development
Through its Pusong Filinvest corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, FLI demonstrates a lasting commitment to uplifting communities. Recent initiatives include a land donation to Bulacan State University and providing school supplies to over 6,320 students across five schools in Davao. Additionally, FLI donated water filtration systems to benefit more than 6,000 people in various provinces. During emergencies, Pusong Filinvest actively responds, delivering essential aid to families affected by floods and fires.
Empowering women leaders in sustainability
Filinvest Land takes pride in the many women leaders within its ranks, whose innovative perspectives help shape the company’s sustainable initiatives. These leaders play a crucial role in FLI’s mission to create healthier, greener communities for future generations.
For FLI, sustainability is more than a goal—it is a responsibility. With its forward-thinking approach to ecological and economic synergy, FLI continues to set the standard for environmentally conscious business in the Philippines. By building communities that prioritize both people and the planet, FLI exemplifies a future-focused commitment that reinforces the Filipino dream with a foundation of innovation and sustainability.
