PropertyGuru Awards: A testament to the transformative impact of Philippine real estate

As one witnesses each group, each person go upstage to claim their award, one cannot help but cheer with others in the room – the proof of their hard work and passion is evident. Each and every developer present in that room represents big movers that have long-lasting and life-changing impact on the country, and the Filipino.

The PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of excellence, innovation, and the tireless work of the country’s top real estate developers. Held this year at Shangri-La The Fort in Manila, the ceremony recognized the industry’s best, and set the stage for even greater achievements in the future. Developers from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao came together to celebrate a shared vision of growth, sustainability, and success in the ever-evolving Philippine property landscape.

As Cyndy Tan Jarabata, Chairperson of the PropertyGuru Judging Panel and President of TAJARA Leisure and Hospitality Group Inc., so aptly stated, “We are all here for one thing—to celebrate and benchmark excellence in real estate development and design. This year’s entries are like mirrors to the vibrancy of the property market. These awards are the ultimate validation of all your hard work, because they come from a place of honor and integrity.”

The Philippines’ real estate market, once centered in Metro Manila, has now expanded its horizons. “In our industry we stick by the mantra, ‘Location, location, location.’ Years ago, this was synonymous with ‘Manila, Manila, Manila,’ but look where we are now,” Jarabata added. “The decentralization of economic growth has propelled regions like Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas, and Laguna into the spotlight, attracting both local and foreign investments. This expansion continues to reach new heights in Visayas and Mindanao, a signal of the country’s growing potential.”

This year’s PropertyGuru Awards were marked by the theme of sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity. Jules Kay, Managing Director of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, highlighted the impressive accomplishments of the Philippine real estate market, “Every year, I am in awe of the innovation and the impressive commitment that real estate developers in the Philippines have into growing the market, and delivering the best to their customers.” He noted how the diversity of projects reflects the increasing options available to the Filipino homebuyer, contributing to the rapid growth of the market.

At the prestigious 12th PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards 2024 Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, the highly anticipated Stars of the Night awards were presented by The Philippine Star’s Executive Vice President, Mr. Lucien Dy Tioco. Adding a touch of excitement and glamour to the evening, the award recognized two of the best-dressed attendees for their outstanding style and elegance: Maria Christine Javillonar of PrimeHomes Real Estate Development, Inc., and Joe Fijardo of Megaworld Hotels and Resorts.

Robinsons Land Corporation dominated the awards with its third consecutive win as Best Developer, showcasing their continuous commitment to delivering exceptional developments.

This year marked a milestone with the presentation of the inaugural ESG Developer Awards. Alveo Land earned the first-ever Social Impact Award while PrimaryHomes, Inc. garnered the new Sustainable Construction Award. Megaworld Corporation won the inaugural Sustainable Design Award and Energy Efficiency Award.

Megaworld Corporation, the most awarded company of the year, was also honoured as Best Developer (Visayas), Best Mixed Use Developer, and Best Hospitality Developer, with subsidiary Global-Estate Resorts, Inc. (GERI) clinching the Best Lifestyle Developer award. Megaworld Corporation’s diverse projects excelled in this year’s awards, with Maple Grove Park Village taking a top honour as Best Housing Development (Philippines).

One of the most anticipated moments of the evening was the awarding of the Philippines Real Estate Personality of the Year, which was given to Manuel V. Pangilinan, Chairman and CEO of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation. This honor reflects not just Pangilinan’s influence in the real estate sector, but his broader contributions to the country’s economic development.

Meanwhile, the Rising Star Award was presented to Mariana Beatriz Zobel de Ayala, Senior Vice President of Ayala Land, Inc., recognizing her role in shaping the future of Philippine real estate.

The PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards is not just about winning trophies—it is a reflection of the country’s continued journey toward growth and excellence. From high-end condominiums to affordable housing, the projects honored this year represent the full spectrum of Filipino life, offering solutions to diverse market needs.

As the top winners advance to the 19th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final in Bangkok this December, there is a shared sense of pride in how far the Philippine real estate market has come, and optimism for the future. These awards serve as a reminder that the country’s developers are not just building structures—they are creating communities and shaping the country’s landscape for generations to come.
