Robinsons Land: Highly Commended as Best Sustainable Developer 2024

Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) has been recognized with a Highly Commended award for Best Sustainable Developer at the PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards 2024. This accolade underscores RLC’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and its proactive efforts to integrate eco-friendly practices across its portfolio.

Commitment to Green Standards

RLC adheres to four key focus areas in its green building standards: Climate Action, Responsible Land Use, Water and Waste Management, and Material Sourcing. These areas are closely aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By aligning with these standards, RLC not only enhances the sustainability of its developments but also contributes to global environmental goals.

Mantawi Residences is the first condominium in Cebu to receive the prestigious EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) preliminary certification.

To ensure its buildings meet these high standards, RLC pursues green certifications such as EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for both new and existing properties. These certifications validate RLC’s dedication to reducing environmental impact and improving sustainability across its projects.

Cybergate Iloilo Towers 1 & 2 is Western Visayas first LEED-certified operational project.

Robinsons Offices, the office buildings division of RLC, has been at the forefront of green building practices in its commercial spaces. The division aims to secure sustainability certifications for all new office developments in Metro Manila. To date, RLC has obtained LEED or EDGE certifications for 16 properties. While for RLC Residences, its premium development within the Bridgetowne Destination Estate, Le Pont Residences, received preliminary EDGE Advanced certification earlier this year. This certification highlights the development’s energy and water efficiency measures.

Innovative Eco-Friendly Technologies

Robinsons Malls and Shell Pilipinas Corporation have launched the Shell Recharge EV Charging Station at Opus Mall, Bridgetowne Destination Estate, Quezon City.

Robinsons Land incorporates a range of innovative eco-friendly technologies into its developments. Solar power systems, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, renewable energy sourcing, and water-saving fixtures like rainwater collection systems and sewage treatment plants are integral to their strategy.

The implementation of these technologies offers tangible benefits. Solar panels and EV chargers provide tenants with access to low-cost, sustainable energy, while raising awareness of green practices. Water conservation fixtures enhance resource efficiency by reducing water usage and promoting recycling.

Robinsons Malls are also making strides in sustainability. Currently, 24 malls utilize solar power with a total capacity of 31 megawatts, translating to 182 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 129,000 metric tons.

Climate Resilience and Future Goals

In addition to its green technologies, RLC is focused on climate resilience. The company has initiated the Climate Resiliency Project, which assesses and mitigates risks related to climate events such as flooding, heatwaves, and cyclones. The first asset in Bridgetowne has already been assessed under this project, following the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) guidelines.

RLC Residences has also made a significant commitment to sustainability with a groundbreaking agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). This agreement targets one million square meters of net-zero carbon and climate-resilient condominiums by 2031, reflecting RLC’s dedication to long-term environmental goals.

A Vision for the Future

RLC’s commitment to integrating sustainability into every aspect of its operations—from commercial properties and hotels to residential condominiums, logistics, and destination estates—demonstrates a clear vision for a greener future. The company remains dedicated to building better and leading the way in sustainable development.

“As we continue to build and innovate, our goal is to integrate sustainability into every facet of our operations,” says Ramon Rivero, RLC’s Chief Strategist. “We believe in building better and fostering environmental responsibility in all that we do.”

This award serves as a testament to Robinsons Land’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life for its customers while driving progress in sustainability across the real estate sector.
