Megawide Corporate Foundation empowers future business leaders of the country

In a significant step towards enhancing education, Megawide Corporate Foundation, Inc. (MCFI), the corporate social responsibility arm of Megawide Construction Corporation, has entered into a partnership with Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU). This collaboration aims to provide financial assistance to deserving students, ensuring they can complete their studies without financial burden.

Through the Megawide Scholarship Program, select Management students at ADMU’s John Gokongwei School of Management (JGSOM) will receive monetary support to help cover their education-related expenses. This initiative was formalized with a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by MCFI’s Executive Director Tata Saavedra and Consultant Atty. Mia Castro, along with ADMU representatives led by Vice-President for Higher Education Dr. Maria Luz C Vilches and Office of Admissions and Aid Director Dr. Jose Maria Edito K. Tirol.

The agreement outlines that MCFI will provide a regular monthly stipend to five college scholars, supporting them from the time of grant until they complete their studies. The stipends will be disbursed directly to the students, who are enrolled in either the Bachelor of Science in Business Management or Management Engineering programs at JGSOM.

Saavedra highlighted Megawide’s commitment to creating meaningful changes within communities, particularly through education. “Megawide aims to leave a lasting impact on our educational system. Beyond financial support, we focus on holistic personal development, quality education, and values formation to build a strong society,” she stated.

Atty. Castro emphasized the shared values of excellence between MCFI and ADMU, reflected in the university’s motto of ‘Magis,’ which means ‘going above and beyond.’ She expressed confidence that their support would nurture future leaders who can contribute to achieving a First-World Philippines.

Dr. Vilches echoed the sentiments of MCFI officials, stressing the importance of positive disruption and holistic education in nation-building. She highlighted that ADMU’s core curriculum aims to foster both intellect and empathy in students, a quality resonated by MCFI’s heartfelt commitment to the scholars.

Dr. Tirol underscored the critical role of donor support in mitigating the financial challenges faced by students due to inflation. “Any support helps. It enables students to attend classes, buy books, find food, and focus on their studies,” he noted. This partnership between MCFI and ADMU exemplifies how corporate responsibility and educational excellence can come together to empower the next generation of leaders
