Travelers to Bohol can look forward to world-class vacations with the recent ground-breaking of the first internationally-branded resort hotel and luxury residences in Panglao Island by Cebu-based developer AppleOne Group Inc.
To be named JW Marriott Panglao Island Resort & Spa and the JW Marriott Residences Panglao Island, the twin landmark development will further strengthen the status of the famed island province as one of the country’s top tourist destinations.
Due for completion in 2027, the development is situated on an idyllic seven-hectare beachfront in Dauis town which has an unobstructed view of Maribojoc Bay, and surrounded by lush parkland, a fish sanctuary, white sand beaches, and scuba diving spots.
Designed by award-winning Architect Blink Design Group, the hotel and residences will both feature distinctive interiors, serene spaces, and showcase Bohol’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
JW Marriott Panglao Island Resort & Spa will have 80 spacious guest rooms, swimming pools, state-of-the-art fitness center, Spa by JW Marriott, the JW Garden which will be a sustainable source of fresh produce, and food and beverage outlets serving international cuisine. There will also be a center for children’s activities dedicated to education and enrichment.
The JW Marriott Residences will feature 70 private homes with luxurious appointments ranging from one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and villas, complete with residents-only amenities including a swimming pool, lounge, Kid’s Club, library, yoga pavilion, music room, rock-climbing gym, and outdoor recreational facilities.
Residence owners can expect VIP treatment while living at the Residence and when staying at participating Marriott International hotels and resorts worldwide.
According to Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, who led the ground-breaking rites, the new luxury properties signal global confidence in the Philippine tourism industry’s resurgence, which spells more economic opportunities, increased livelihood, and economic growth.
The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by DOT undersecretary Ferdinand Jumapao, Bohol First District Rep. Edgardo Chatto, Vice Governor Rene Relampagos, Dauis Mayor Roman Bullen, Vice Mayor Marietta Sumaylo, and Bohol Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte who represented Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado.
“With our strong relationship with Marriott International built on trust and a shared vision for creating better hospitality and residential experiences in the Philippines, we are able to bring a globally respected brand like JW Marriott to Panglao. Our investment into this project is an investment into Bohol, and consequently into the progress of our country,” said AppleOne president and chief executive Ray Go Manigsaca.
Manigsaca, who also heads Venray Construction, was recently hailed as this year’s Grand Chamber Awards Entrepreneur of the Year by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry because of his diversified property ventures in the Visayas, which also include executive villages, boutique resorts and health care.
Marriott International area vice president for Korea and the Philippines Duke Nam, expressed delight in the hotel chain’s expansion in the archipelago’s southern part.
“We are delighted to be a part of this journey with AppleOne to introduce the JW Marriott brand to the Philippines. The natural beauty of Bohol, coupled with its vibrant culture and the genuine warmth of Filipino hospitality, create the perfect setting for JW Marriott Panglao Island Resort and Residences,” he said.
The project will be AppleOne’s third property managed by Marriott International after the opening of Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort and The Residences at Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort last year.
The twin high-end properties were named Best Luxury Resort Development and Best Branded Residential Development, respectively, in the 10th PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards in 2022.
The firm will also open in mid-2024 Fairfield by Marriott Cebu Mactan, a business hotel at the mixed-use Mahi Center, located outside the Mactan Cebu International Airport.
