It’s a significant step towards a greener, more sustainable future.
Business tycoon Manuel B. Villar Jr. led a groundbreaking tree-planting endeavor within the 3,500-hectare Villar City on Sept. 30, exemplifying an admirable and unwavering commitment to sustainability. Some 700 employees from the Villar Group’s residential and retail companies joined the self-made real estate magnate in planting seedlings and young pine trees within this massive, mixed-use development.
1M trees
This thoughtful ecological initiative formed part of the Villar Group’s goal of having at least a million towering pine trees growing and flourishing within Villar City. In several years’ time, these trees will create a beautiful verdant canopy poised to improve the air quality in the metro and offer a breath of fresh air for residents and guests.
At the same time, this massive tree planting drive also stands as an important contribution to biodiversity conservation in the country, while helping protect the environment and reduce the city’s carbon footprint.
“You should all be proud to have taken part in building Villar City. This tree-planting activity we have now is just one of the many that we will undertake here in the coming years, as we seek to have at least one million lush trees lining the beautiful natural terrain of this city,” Villar said.
“Having one million trees is possible—and it can be done with all of us taking part in helping create a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Villar City. Together, we can make this vision a reality, fostering a healthier environment for generations to come,” Villar explained.
To commemorate this tree-planting initiative, the Villar Group also had a ceremonial thumb imprint—a memento for a million trees for the emerging Villar City.
‘New center of gravity’
Villar City is envisioned to become Metro Manila’s “new center of gravity”, a thriving nexus where economic, lifestyle, cultural, and leisure activities will converge. It will be a massive, pioneering masterplanned development that will not only stand as a central urban area with ancillary centers and districts, but also a home for over a million trees.
This megacity development—a landmark venture of Villar—spans across 15 cities and towns in Metro Manila and portions of Cavite. Of the 3,500 hectares comprising Villar City, close to 900 hectares are already “activated” by Vista Land & Lifescapes Inc. These developed areas are already home to hundreds of thousands of fully grown trees.
Indeed, this recent tree-planting activity, simple as it may seem, signals a powerful initiation into a more sustainable tomorrow for both the present and future generations.
“This tree-planting activity is our pledge to help protect the environment, enrich biodiversity, and enhance the quality of life for all who call and will call Villar City their home,” Villar concluded.
