PHILGBC launches Green Building Month

The Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC), led by its CEO and WorldGBC vice chair Christopher C. de la Cruz, announced the commencement of the Philippines’ Green Building Month. This month-long celebration, packed with a series of activities, aims to raise public awareness about the benefits and opportunities of green building and sustainable practices.

The Green Building Month festivities, set to be highlighted by increased industry and government participation, will provide a platform for meaningful engagement and collaboration. Through a rich lineup of activities, PHILGBC seeks to inspire and empower stakeholders to embrace sustainable building solutions and drive positive change within the sector. Among the featured events are the WorldGBC Asia-Pacific Network Meeting from Sept. 25-27, and the BERDE Green Building Professional Certification Course from Sept. 26-27.

“As we kick-off the Green Building Month, we are excited to engage with our partners and stakeholders to promote the importance of sustainable building practices,” said Christopher C. de la Cruz, CEO of PHILGBC and vice chair of WorldGBC. “By encouraging collaboration, we aim to create a collective impact on the built environment and pave the way for a greener and more sustainable future.”

The he month-long celebration kicked off last Sept. 8 with the Establishment of the Green Building Sector Skills Council. This initiative aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of professionals in the green building sector, fostering a workforce wall-equipped with sustainable building expertise.

The BERDE Green Building Professional Certification Course, slated from Sept. 26-27, will provide participants  insights and knowledge on green building practices enabling.

By engaging with industry professionals, policymakers, and sustainability enthusiasts, PHILGBC aims to foster collaboration and innovation in achieving a greener and more sustainable built environment.

The launch of the Green Building Month coincided with the Philippine Green Building Day on Sept. 8, in line with Presidential Proclamation No. 1030 S. 2020. This momentous day serves as a reminder and reaffirmation of the collective commitment to drive sustainable building practices in the country.

“The Green Building Month celebration reiterates the importance of sustainable building practices and reflects our commitment to igniting passion and dedication among stakeholders for sustainable development in the built environment,” said Rowena C. Ramos, PHILGBC vice chair and concurrent BERDE Committee chair. “We welcome government agencies and green building stakeholders to join us in creating a lasting impact.”
