Looking for an outdoor place in the city to bike safely, go for a run, or bring your pets for a walk? Set your alarm clocks early next month as Ayala Avenue will transform into a car-free haven all Sunday mornings of September.
Starting this September 3, 2023, the entire stretch of Ayala Avenue will be closed off to motorists every morning from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The car-free area covers the entire stretch of Ayala Avenue from Salcedo-H.V. Dela Costa St. to West St. & Fonda St. There will also be partial road closures on Sedeno St., Villar St, and other adjoining streets.
Experience the traffic-free zone in the normally bustling business district on September 3, 10, 17, and 24. The car-free initiative is set to hold a grand launch on September 3.
Pedestrians can take a relaxing run or stroll, cyclists can enjoy the normally busy road safely, and families can even bring their kids to roller skate around along Ayala Avenue’s 2.3-kilometer stretch. The event is pet-friendly, so fur parents are welcome to bring their pets on early morning walks.
In case you come late past 10:00 a.m., you can also head on over to Paseo de Roxas (side of Ayala Triangle Gardens), another car-free zone that hosts a Makati Street Meet every weekend from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
