Breaking the glass ceiling: Women as leaders

It’s no secret that women are powerful and valuable agents of change. There’s a remarkable advantage that women could offer in the workplace and they have paved the way to be successful across different industries.

Women are naturally talented and productive leaders. When women are given the chance to lead, they bring fresh perspectives and unique ideas and strategies to the table. That’s why there are various notable women who have made a name in their respective industries.

In the past years, many more women are holding significant positions of leadership in business, government, real estate, technology, and among others. Nowadays, women leaders are vital as they bring diversity and representation with the emerging economy and market landscape of our country.

Across the country, women may still lack visibility, but with few exceptions, some women have strived to break the glass ceiling.

As a woman leader myself, I have made it my personal commitment to be an advocate for women empowerment and use my influence to create positive change and advancement in the industry.

It is not an easy feat to reach and achieve where I am now. The seeds of my passion, commitment, and hard work have led me to grow, excel, and gain valuable leadership experiences and opportunities in business.

Women of power

Modestly speaking, it is an honor to be recognized by different award-giving bodies in the industry. Last month, as we celebrated the International Women’s Month, I was recognized as one of the Women of Power in a category of Women trailblazers and changemakers. It is one of the proudest moments in my professional career to be named as a game changer in Philippine retail who led the company to new heights. Wilcon Depot has become a trailblazer in the home construction retail industry, providing high-quality, innovative home products and solutions, and outstanding customer shopping experience to all Filipino homeowners and builders.

Women of Power

Also, I was invited as a guest speaker at the She Slays FestiGal 2023: Future Makers. It is an event that gathers and empowers different generations of women and engages them in a conversation to build a better future through action.

Uplift 2023

Aside from that, I was also honored to present an award to Uplift 2023 awardees who have brought hope and contributed to raising the Filipino spirit. Plaque of recognition was given to awardees from 10 distinct categories: TUPAD Program of the Department of Labor and Employment (Public Service); The SM Group (Big Business); Zennor Hydroponics Farm (MSMEs); Dolly de Leon (Entertainment); Carlos Yulo (Sports); Development of Clonal Propagation Protocols for Native Forest and Fruit-Bearing Tree Species of Quirino and Nearby Provinces by Quirino State University (Science and Technology); City Government of Lapu Lapu (E-Commerce by Gcash, Excellence in Adoption to Government Initiatives); Jocelyn Mamar (Agriculture); Chef Rafael Jadaleza Jr. (Arts, Culture, and Education); and Lifeline 16-911 Medical Inc. (Healthcare).

Wilcon Depot COO Rosemarie Bosch-Ong

It was such an honor and a privilege to have been a part of these three amazing and powerful events. I believe that as I represent Wilcon Depot through these events, it allows the company to not only show its commitment to leadership, excellence, and better opportunities for women but also to strengthen partnerships with like-minded individuals and organizations.
