Filipinos are known for their resiliency amid trying times like the COVID-19 pandemic. Our kababayans endure hardships for a better and brighter tomorrow. Now, we are living in the new normal era.
Several industries had to adapt to the new norm lest they wanted to get left behind.
Like any other line of work, real estate professionals faced challenges amid the unprecedented pandemic, but they adapted and bounced back tenfold.
While the world stood still, brokers remained resilient and kept the ball rolling to heed the call of duty for the benefit of the real estate industry. So, how did they do it?
Professional Development
Digitalization was already integrated into our daily lives even before the pandemic. However, it became the only choice because of the unique circumstances the Philippines faced during lockdowns.
Digitalization has helped brokers reach more property seekers within and outside the Philippines. Online platforms like Lamudi aided real estate professionals to connect with potential clients even with mobility restrictions in place.
Besides digital platforms, various webinars also emerged to help brokers upskill and learn how to adapt to the new normal. In a Lamudi webinar, RJ Ledesma, former Board Governor of the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA), said the crisis became an opportunity for entrepreneurs to create a digital platform. “Since we can’t be speaking to our clients right now, we’ve got to learn to pivot online things.”
New ways of marketing brought about by stringent health restrictions were also developed in replacement of the old. Virtual property tours spread for local and overseas seekers alike, physical brochures and flyers were replaced by visually appealing content, and social media engagement became the go-to option.
Personal and Professional Growth
The pandemic became a window for good changes to happen. Growing as a person is vital because it improves not only your outlook in life but also your duty to the real estate industry as a broker.
Carolina D. Tan, AICI CIP, President of Enhance Your Image Training Consultancy, said in a previous online discussion that sincerity and believability are important in the personal development of a real estate professional. “All of this may take a little bit of time because it doesn’t come quickly but definitely building the rapport starts somewhere,” she added.
In addition, passion and persistence in the profession are key to a successful career path. Last October 13, 2022, during the Lamudi Link at KMC Solutions, Eva Marzan-Landais of Infinity Realty said, “If you don’t like what you do, you’re not going to stay long in the industry.”
A Night to Remember for Brokers
Professional development and personal growth are good investments that brokers can carry with them moving forward. These skills and traits are proof that Filipino brokers can power through no matter the ordeal.
