Olympic Silver medalist Nesthy Petecio will soon have a new home courtesy of real-estate developer Suntrust Properties Inc.
Suntrust president Atty. Harry Paltongan personally met Petecio to award her with the gift last Aug. 20 at Sherwood Hills Golf Club in Trece Martires, Cavite.
“We invited Nesthy to a special lunch because I wanted to personally assure her of our commitment to deliver her gift in due time. Construction of One Lakeshore Drive is still ongoing, but I can attest that the waiting period will be worth it. Her unit will be on the top floor, and we will furnish it to her liking,” Paltongan said in a statement.
The medalist’s P10M condo unit in One Lakeshore Drive, inside the 11.2-hectare Davao Park District in Lanang, Davao City, is over an hour away from the Filipina boxer’s hometown in Sta. Cruz.
“We recognize how she prepared for this victory — a long journey, indeed. One full of sacrifices and frustrations, yet one where she never gave up,” Paltongan added.
Trece Martires Mayor Gemma Lubigan joined Paltongan in welcoming the Filipina boxer at One Lakeshore Drive.
Before the awarding of the unit, the Pinay boxer spent the afternoon golfing and driving around the venue.
Petecio was also surprised by her family’s virtual appearance via Zoom during the event.
Dreams come true to those who work hard while they dream
In her acceptance speech, Petecio recalled the times when she wanted to give up her dreams of becoming an Olympian.
The first Filipina boxer to bag an Olympic medal vowed to provide her family with the best things in life and said that the blessings she is receiving today, she offers to her family.
Suntrust Properties, Inc. is an award-winning property development company that is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Megaworld Corp., which also gave a residential condominium unit in Eastwood City to Hidilyn Diaz, the country’s first Olympic Gold Medalist.
