Kalye Mabunga is a web series initiated by Smart Communications, Inc. in partnership with the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI).
For its seventh episode, Bryan Apacionado of the University of the Philippines Los Baños talked about edible landscaping, including the components of crop production and functional design.
He gave the viewers a walkthrough of UPLB’s edible landscape garden and discussed the steps and some considerations in creating one in your own backyard.
In the same episode, Twenty Manila’s Emmanuel “Tito Manny” Angeles — the web series’ main character — also showed how to make a terrarium in seven easy steps.
Kalye Mabunga aims to help boost food production through urban agriculture and, at the same time, entertain viewers during the quarantine.
Previous episodes showcased seed-sowing in the backyard, container gardening, square-foot gardening, vertical gardening, and hydroponics, plant propagation and do-it-yourself agri projects. Each episode also ends with healthy vegetable recipes.
Cooperators of some ATI Learning Sites for Agriculture in Central Luzon and Calabarzon serve as guest experts and share their best practices on farming.
Kalye Mabunga piloted on July 17 and will run every Friday at 8 p.m. until September 24, via the Smart Communities and ATI Facebook pages.
