Defining a nation through fashion

“Complicated but colorful.”

This is Designer Circle Philippines’ (DCP) chairman Francis Calaquian’s forecast for the fashion industry in the Philippines for 2020 during the recent launch of LUZVIMINDA: Tapestries that Bind our Independence in Baguio City.

He adds that fashion is an integral part of a nation’s identity, which is why he is thankful for Camp John Hay’s partnership in staging the event in one of the country’s most culturally preserved destinations.

LUZVIMINDA, the portmanteau of the country’s three main islands, serves its name perfectly as the event showcases a fusion of cultural and modern haute couture made with materials and fabrics weaved from various regions in the country.

During the launch, DCP gave a taste of its collection by displaying nine dresses on the runway inside the hotel. The curated collection is currently on display at the hotel lobby.

Those in the fashion scene are now exhilirated as they anticipate the culminating event on August 9, where Forest Lodge will stage a fashion show featuring masterpieces of DCP’s best designers.
