As I was searching for how to make Dalgona coffee videos during the early days of quarantine, I started to develop this particular interest for Korean cafe vlogs. As I fell into the rabbit hole of cafe vlogs, randomly watching one after another, I stumbled on a Korean daily living vlog, which again piqued my interest.
The vlogs that I watched were centered on daily lives, the most part of which were, of course, spent at home. While it sounds boring to watch how a random person spends their time on an average day, it makes you appreciate the little things you can do to brighten your day at home.
Here are some of the things I learned from watching Korean daily living vlogs:
Maximize small spaces through storage
One thing I noticed about the homes featured in the vlogs was how they could fit so many things into their small spaces without looking cramped. This is achieved by using efficient storage supplies. One hack that I learned is to use boxes to organize items and neatly place them on shelves or cabinets. Making use of space underneath your bed for less used items is also an efficient way to save space.
Decorate your desk
Our homes may not always be the most conducive place to work, but this can be changed by sprucing up our desks with design elements. Choosing a pen holder with your preferred design, adding a few knickknacks of your favorite cartoon characters or placing some candles and flowers — these little elements will help brighten your work area.
Learn how to cook your favorite dish
Instead of heading out to your favorite resto because of your sudden craving, why not head to your kitchen and start a new adventure by trying to replicate your favorite dish. Choosing colorful cookware and utensils that match your style is also something that will motivate you to start cooking.
Let your walls inspire you
Staring at the blank walls at home can sometimes make me feel like I’m boxed in from the outside world. One way to avoid this feeling of being cooped up in our homes is to decorate your walls with pictures that inspire you. Whether it be a painting, a poster of your idol, or even postcards from friends. You can also hang up a corkboard or a metal grid and fill it with photos and notes.
